Uriah Funk

Uriah James Funk joined his grandfathers, LeRoy Funk and James (Mac) McManus in heaven on September 5, 2019 at the age of 18. Uriah was born July 11, 2001 to Melinda Curley. On July 24, 2005 he arrived at his forever home for the first time. On August 22, 2006, along with his older sister, Uriah stood in front of a room full of family and friends and told Judge Fagg that he wanted to forever be the son of Ryan and Kerensa Funk. Three weeks later, he became a proud big brother to a little sister and twenty months after that he welcomed home his best friend, his baby brother. Uriah was a gentle giant with an infectious smile that lit up a room. He was a defender of anyone smaller or younger than himself. He was devoted to his family and friends. He loved playing lacrosse for the Billings Bearcats and Football for the Laurel Locomotives. He was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan, he enjoyed anything adventurous, skateboarding, floating the river (or ditch), playing basketball or tag with his younger siblings and cousins. He loved his week at Camp Marshall each summer, as well as, any time he could spend at the family cabin in Seeley Lake. He also enjoyed going on adventures with his mother, including her taking him and a friend on a twenty-four hour round trip drive to Salt Lake to cheer up another friend who was stuck in a hospital due to illness, or driving to Helena to pick up a friend and take him to camp with no real directions on where to go. His faith that he could help others by being his quiet, charming, and very comical self always rang true. He knew how to make others feel like the world was a wonderful place because he was in it and you were in it with him. Uriah was blessed to be raised by a village. He always had a friend, surrogate parent or coach to call when he needed a ride to practice or to school, a place to stay, help with homework or any other variety of things. He was truly blessed to be loved by and to love so many people in his short life. Uriah is survived by his parents, Kerensa and Ryan Funk; siblings, Adriane (Jason) Loomis and Abby and Adam Funk; grandmothers, Nancy McManus and Patricia Funk; nephew, Samuel Loomis; uncles, James (Michelle) McManus and Bill (Elena) Wilder; aunts, NatalieJean (Pat) Ahrens and Lori Funk; cousins, Mark, Kristen, Drake, Ariel, Brooke, Jonathan, Nicole, Leah, Parker and Peyton; Nanny and Papa, Lana and Alan Johnson; adopted aunt, April Heuer; and cousins, Alexis, Zander, Noah, Cayden, Drake, Zoey and Tavion; and many more special people who were very influential and equally as important to Uriah. A viewing will be help at Dahl Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 from 5:00-8:00pm. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
