Keith Haagenstad

At the age of 71, Keith Haagenstad died at the Billings Clinic on July 18, 2014. Born on February 28, 1943 in Maddock, North Dakota, Keith was the son of Odin and Eleanor Haagenstad. He graduated from high school in Huron, South Dakota. When he joined the navy he was trained as an aviation mechanic. Following his honorable discharge, Keith worked as a flight instructor in South Dakota. From there he worked and moved to various places until he came to Billings in 1978 where he met the love of his life, Jeanette, who also worked at the airport. On February 14, 1981, Keith and Jeanette were united in marriage. Keith worked as an aviation mechanic first at Combs, then Corporate Air, Lynch Flying Service, then Edwards Jet Center. After retirement, he drove a school bus for six years and loved every minute of it. He was known to all the children as “Mr. Keith”. His hobbies included his love of motorcycles; he was an avid NASCAR fan and loved spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Jeanette; children: Terry (Michelle) Henneberry, Tim Henneberry, Mary (Steve) Krieger, Tina (Than) Christman; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; sister Jane Hernlund; brother Brian Haagenstad and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gail Salisbury. “You were an amazing husband and friend.” The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Billings Clinic nurses and staff. Memorial services for Keith will be 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. His ashes will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Gardens at a later date.
