Obituary
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend was called home by our heavenly father on July 18, 2014, to be reunited with her beloved husband, Kenneth (Ken) Haun. Theresa Bird Hat Haun was known as “Two Bald Eagle Woman” (Duup' taa Ko'ish Che' wiish), a clan member of the Bad War Deed and Ties the Bundle Child. She is a descendant of Chief Bell Rock, Bird Hat, Pretty Eagle, White Mouth, Thunder Iron, and Goes Ahead Pretty. Theresa was born in Crow Agency, Montana, to Catherine Smells-Bull Shows and Alvin Bird Hat Jr. on August 6, 1940. She was raised in Pryor, Montana by her mother and step father Harry R. Bull Shows. Theresa married the late Ken Haun on November 1, 1968. They made their home in Pryor and raised their children at the Known By Everyone homestead. Theresa and Ken's family became members of the Arrow Creek Christian Church in Pryor. She enjoyed singing gospel songs and being a song leader in the church. She is also a member of the Tobacco Society. Her adopted parents are the late Ada and Henry Rides the Horse. Theresa was brought up in the Crow tradition. She was an avid Plenty Coups Warrior basketball fan. She enjoyed watching her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren play basketball. Theresa received her education at St. Charles Mission, Pryor Elementary, Edgar High School, and Senior High in Billings, MT. She received her General Studies and Elementary Education at Rocky Mountain College and Eastern Montana College in Billings, Montana. Theresa also received specialized training in Community Intervention Substance Abuse and American Indian Healthcare. She held professional membership and received distinctive awards from the National Indian Education Association, Technical Assistance and Child Development Association, and Community Health Representatives. Theresa's career includes 20 years of educational service as the Center Supervisor/Teacher for the Pryor Head Start Program, Teacher Aide for K-8 at St. Charles and Pryor Elementary, followed by five years as a CHR Supervisor in Crow Agency, Montana. Before retirement, she served as the CHR Program Coordinator in Pryor, Montana. She was a devoted member of the Pryor Public School Board. Survivors include her sons, Carlos (Marilyn) Monroy Sr. and Richard (Orvilene) Monroy Sr.; daughters: Carla Ann (James) Wilson Sr. and Kathy Lynn (Ertis) Fighter Jr. Theresa and her late husband, Ken, raised their grandchildren Alvin B. (Valerie) Plain Bull, Carlotta (Cody) Ware, Garren Goes Ahead and the late George Monroy. Her family includes 26 Grandchildren, and 25 Great-Grandchildren.
