Obituary
Trygve Aure passed away at St Johns Nursing Home in Billings on December 13, 2010. He celebrated his 100th birthday March 15, 2010, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Bjerkreim, Norway March 15, 1910 to Ole and Karina Aure, the 4th of 5 siblings. He came to America in 1929, not speaking any English. He took a train from New York to Glendive, Montana where he worked on local area ranches. He married Agnes Undem on September 19, 1935 in Glendive. They resided in Glendive and Billings. Trygve worked as a carpenter for the Northern Pacific Railway, which later merged and became The Burlington Northern Railway. He held various positions in the Bridge and Building Department for the railroad until retiring in 1975 as Supervisor of Yellowstone Division. Trygve and Agnes returned to Billings where they enjoyed retirement. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors pursuing his hobbies hunting, fishing, camping, carpentry, golfing, and gardening. He always embraced life and had a heartwarming smile with a twinkle in his Norwegian blue eyes. He was a member of the Sons of Norway, The Elks, and the American Lutheran Church. Trygve was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Agnes and son Obert. He is survived by his children, son Harold (Desta) Aure of Sandy, UT; daughter Lillian (George) Carroll of Larchmont, NY; son David (Carol) Aure of Austin, TX; daughter Sonja (Dennis) Colbrese of Laurel, MT; daughterin-law Irene Aure of Billings, MT; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother Asmund Aure of Norway. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at St. Johns Nursing Home for their love and care. Cemetery: Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 1721 Central Ave. Visitation: A viewing will be held Thursday, December 16 between 12 and 5 pm, at Dahl Funeral Chapel, 10 Yellowstone Ave. Service: Funeral Services will at the American Lutheran Church, 5 Lewis Ave on Friday, December 17 at 1:30 pm. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 1721 Central Ave.

Hal and Desta, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and visiting with you on last night's plane trip from Salt Lake to Billings. Trygve's family, I am sitting at the desk in my office (Redeemer Lutheran Church) with an old friend of your parents, Inga Morris, who lives here in Great Falls now and is a member of my church. She says: "Hello to all the Aure children. Merry Christmas and we hope you will have a good new year in spite of your loss. I sit and reminisce over the days we used to gather at the Moose Hall in Glendive. I remember your family very well and send you my best. I remember very well the fun we had dancing and enjoying each other. And I was there at Sonja's baptism. God's blessings to all of you. I know my brother, Stanley, will also want to know of Trygve's death so I will let him know. He now lives in Hamilton, MT and used to work with Trygve on the railroad." My sympathy to all of Trygve's family. He was a kind and caring person. Trygve and Agnes took care of my son, Michael, in Glendive for several years. Mike lives in CT with his wife and our only grandson, Talon. He is now 49. He will never forget the loving care he recieved from them both. Now he is with his beloved wife once more. Clara
