Genevieve Hemmy

Genevieve “Genny” Hemmy passed away Saturday, June 1, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. Genny was born July 15th, 1932 in Bridger, MT. She was eight in line of ten children. She graduated from Bridger High School in 1950 and was married to her first husband Leonard Kilwien in 1952. They had five children; three daughters and two sons. She married her second husband Darle Hemmy in 1977 after meeting at a card party. Darle was a wonderful father and grandfather to her children and grandchildren. He was superintendent of schools, so once they married they moved to Geyser MT. In 1980 they relocated to Mondovi, WI to take care of Darle's parents. They lived there for 10 years before moving back to Montana, first living in Columbus then back to Billings. Once the kids were grown, Genny was a secretary at Cenex refinery for about 15 years as well as a checker in a grocery store for 8 years. After retirement, Genny and Darle traveled down to South Padre Island, TX for seven winters in a row then three consecutive winters in Arizona. In 2014 they moved to Westpark Village in Billings. Darle passed away in 2015. Genny loved staying busy with her many hobbies which included knitting, crocheting, reading and playing several card games. She was in plays along with working in the store at Westpark. Genny was a big Green Bay Packer fan, she loved watching and talking packers. She was a loving and caring person with a great sense of humor. She was the rock of our family and always saw the best in everyone. Genny is survived by her siblings, Lucille (Jack) Kindelman and Alvin (Betty) Rangitsch; sisters-law, Ginny and Dorothy; five children, Kurt (Miok) Kilwien, Pam Kannegiesser, Becky Kilwien, Kim (Tom) Hogan and Pat (Sue) Kilwien; step-daughter, Georgia (Ken) Brensdahl; ten grandchildren, Quentin (Sandra), Jennifer (Nathan), Clifford (Sarah), Jessica, Chelsey (Mike), Melody, Michael, Martin, Greg and Kelly; and nine great-grandchildren. We wish to thank her second family from Westpark Village, she loved you all dearly. Thank you also to Riverside Hospice, you were a Godsend. Mom, you were the most loving accepting and giving person we will ever know. You will be missed tremendously! Services will be held at 11 am, June 24 at Dahl Funeral Chapel, 10 Yellowstone Ave. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to RiverStone Hospice, www.riverstonehealth.org.
