Obituary
On April 30, 2011, in the presence of his loving family, Rodney Lee Hochhalter passed from this life to the next. He was born January 16, 1947 in Hardin, Montana, to Henry and Martha (Kirschenmann) Hochhalter. Rod was a born entrepreneur who enjoyed many successful businesses. At the time of his passing he owned The Far West Casino and was developing new businesses with his sons. One of Rodneys greatest passions was buying cars. He changed cars like everyone else changed their socks. Unable to decide which vehicle he liked better it was not unusual for him to buy more than one at a time. Every new car he brought home meant a gathering of available family members to test drive the new addition. Those times will be sorely missed by his children. Rod enjoyed boating, bowling, playing basketball games of horse and pig, pinball, playing cards and spending time on the golf course with his brothers and family. He made many spur of the moment road trips to Las Vegas. Preceding Rodney in death were his parents; brother and sister-in-law Gary and Gloria Hochhalter. Rodney is survived by his daughters, Zena (Jim) Wyse, of Berthoud, CO, Andrea (Keith) Jones of Helena, Megan (Dustin) Will of Hardin, Kara Hochhalter of Dickinson, ND; sons Damon Hochhalter, Drew (Sarah) Hochhalter, all of Hardin; son-in-law Jason Pollington; ex-wife Laura and close friend Merle; sister Cherlyn (Clayton) Greer; brothers, Allen (Marie) Hochhalter, Kenny Hochhalter, all of Hardin. Rodney had fifteen grandchildren who so dearly loved their Papa Rod, Darien, Caden and Lexia Wyse, Landrie, Kinzie and Connor Jones, Xander, Stetson and Brooklynne Will, Gavin Bang, Breanne Stagl, Nicholas, Callia and Katelynn Hochhalter, and soon to be born, baby Will. Rods nieces and nephews include Gina and Dana Hochhalter, Leah Updike, Cameron, Nathan, Chandra and Nyles Greer, Sunshine, Hannah, Katie, Samantha and Carter Hochhalter. Memorials: Donations may be made to Chase Hawks Memorial, Box 31333, Billings, MT 59107 or to the Charity Care Fund in care of St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation, 1106 N. 30th, Billings, MT 59101. Service: A Celebration of Rods life and luncheon will be 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the The Far West in Hardin.

We are saddened by your loss. If you need anything let us know. I enjoyed going into the Far West and sitting at the game at the end of the bar and Rod coming in and laughing and saying to me "I dont know why you try you are not going to beat my high score." and then he would walk away.
