Dorothy Houchen

Dorothy Mae Houchen passed away in the early morning of August 31, 2016. Little Dorothy was born July 7, 1933 in Carrington, ND to Adolph and Dorothy Mae Heimbuck. Dorothy's mother died giving birth to Dorothy so she and her older brother Don lived with several relatives until her dad married Agnes Pierson. The family moved to Billings Montana when Dorothy was 6 years old. Dorothy was baptized in Carrington and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Billings, MT. She was currently a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Billings. Dorothy graduated from Billings Senior High School. She was a telephone operator for AT&T for 20 plus years including acting as union president for CWA. Dorothy married Willard Angell and from that marriage were four children. After Willard's death she married Walt Houchen whom she met at church. Dorothy's talents were many. She was known for being an excellent seamstress including machine embroidery. She was a ceramic artist, owning her own ceramic studio, Dot's Ceramics. She enjoyed working with wood and crafts and loved collecting chickens. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Deborah Lee Angell and husband Walt. She is survived by her daughter Diane Marlowe (Jeff), and sons Tom Angell (Libby), and Don Angell. Also her brother Don Heimbuck, and sisters Barbara Heimbuck and Sherrie Murray. Dorothy was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on Monday September 5th, 10:00 a.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Billings Heights. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church. Whenever we talked to Dorothy her response was always “I be fine!” Now she truly is fine with her Lord and Savior.
