Obituary

“Even when a mother's soul is tired, she finds strength for her family.” Donna Jennings, age 76 of Billings, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her children, on Monday, May 20, 2019. Donna was born on July 27, 1942 in Roswell, New Mexico to Bill and Bessie Jennings. She was an only child growing up in Montana and residing in Billings for the past 30 years. Donna was very active and worked her entire life in the service industry, retiring in 2014. She spent the remainder of her life enjoying family and her passions: gardening, being outdoors, animals, reading and trips to Las Vegas with friends. She had an extraordinary green thumb, growing the most beautiful flowers and vegetable gardens on the block. She was always sharing her harvest with family and friends. Donna was a great cook and was always making homemade meals for family gatherings; bringing out favorites when her son, Cory, visited from California. Donna was a constant in her family's life. Although small of stature, Donna was fiercely independent and lived her life on her terms - simply. Donna was welcoming, warm and straightforward; when it was time for her to leave, or for you to leave, she let you know and off she went. She displayed her independent spirit up until the end, always finding strength for her family. Donna is survived by five children, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren: son, Cory (Jeana) Brooks, Mandy, Michelle, Jacob, Ryun, Jane, Eden, Mason, Sebastian; daughter Kim (Doug) Wagner, Garret, Cade and Jace; daughter Jody Chavez, Brian and Carter; daughter Kelia (Mitch) Hart, Matt and Sam and daughter Holly Kovach. She was preceded in death by her parents. Per her request a private family memorial will be held at later date. The family would like to thank the staff on 3rd floor at St Vincent's Hospital and Frontier Cancer Center for their compassionate care and support.

My name is Debby. I worked with Donna for years. She was real tough when I first got hired to work with her. It took about two days, and we bonded!!! I have shared more laughs with that lady, than I can even count. I'm a school teacher, wouldn't you think I could count? We only worked together during the summers, but we stayed in touch year round. I will never forget the day she told me, "You might be smart, but when it comes to managing the money at the end of the day, you're dumber than a box of rocks!" Instead of being mad, I hugged her and I laughed, she was right!! Boy, could she ever spot a true person when she saw one. Those few lucky people she chose to get close to didn't come along often. I will always be honored that I was one of the chosen. We went on trips together, we laughed and we cried together, and we trusted each other enough to tell each other anything, I mean anything! Heaven is getting a good one, a true one, and a friend of mine. No one up there better mess with her, because I might just have to fly up and set them straight!!
