Obituary
At the age of 56, our brother and uncle died unexpectedly of a heart attack. Doug Joyce was born in Billings on September 18, 1954 the son of John Frederick and Josephine Estelle (Whooley) Joyce. He attended Parkhill Grade School in Billings, Sentinal High School in Missoula, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1972. Doug attended the University of Montana and in 1979 completed his masters, concentrating in accounting. On his first attempt, Doug passed his CPA test. Upon completing college, Doug moved to California where he worked for Peat Marwick and Deloitte Touche accounting firms as well as working for the Xerox Corporation. In 2003, Doug moved back to Billings and was currently employed with Kelly Donovan Accounting Firm. An avid reader, Doug also enjoyed traveling to Europe and spending time with his friends at Pug Mahons. He was an active member of the Montana CPA Association Doug was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Russell Joyce. He leaves behind his brothers: David (Kate) Joyce of Tillamook, OR, Joseph Joyce of Battleground, WA, Jerome Joyce of Portland, OR; nieces and nephews: Mike (Cherie) Joyce of Eugene, OR, Doug (Mary) Joyce of Sublimity, OR, Debra (Ralph) Esposito of Clancy, MT, Kevin (Annette) Joyce of Stayton, OR, Adam (Carol) Joyce of Stayton, OR. Cemetery: His ashes will be laid to rest in St. Pius Calvary Cemetery. Service: Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Dougs life will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011 at Dahl Funeral Chapel.

We will certainly miss you, Dougie. I will personally miss our Saturday meetings, and the friendship we shared over all these years. You have always been a great friend, and although I will selfishly mis you, I'm happier that you are in a better place. Save me a seat, my friend! I love you!

The world is a sadder place without Doug. He was the NORM of Pug's. Everybody knew his name and his kind and gentle nature. He will truely be missed by customers and employees alike. We are all glad to meet, get to know, talk and wait on such a special man. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family. We all loved you Doug. Mac and the girls at Pug's

Ah Doug, where to begin. I am deeply saddened that we didn't get to have one more Sunday Funday together - we were only a day away! I really have too many memories of times spent together whether we were at Pug's, or a superbowl party, or at Terry and Lester's, etc. etc. etc. I guess my favorite memories are when we would talk about books and travel. How someday we were going to go to Universal Studios and ride all the roller coasters. Or when I loaned you my book "Dandelion Wine" and then you bought me a really cool copy of it and signed it thanking me for introducing you to it. I hate goodbyes. You left too soon, I wasn't ready for you to go and you will always be in my heart.

You have a guy sit at the bar. He tells you about a good wine you can get somewhere. He sends you to a great restaurant in San Francisco. He'll ask about your kid. Next thing you know, this guy is smoking a cigarette in the alley with you and coming to christmas parties and breaking your heart because he's not sitting on that bar stool where he's been all these years. And your missing that guy. Doug's that guy. He's the guy that we will talk about like he's still around, because he is, telling you about a good wine and being a good friend.
