Nayan Kleiter

Nayan Kleiter, 80, of Billings died Saturday, February 21, 2015 of pancreatic cancer, in her home under the care of Rocky Mountain Hospice. Mom was born May 29, 1934 in Des Moines, Iowa to Gladys Burkhead and Harold Ginsburg. The family lived in Des Moines until moving to Laurel, MT in 1946. Mom graduated from Laurel High School in 1952. There were many lifelong friendships Mom had formed over the years with classmates that still exist to this day. She graduated from EMC (now MSU-Billings) in 1958 with a Bachelor of Education degree. In 1962 Mom married Edward Ross and they had two daughters. They divorced and in 1969 she married Robert Kleiter. We added little brother Bobby to the family in 1973. Mom taught for a few years until Bobby was born and then she devoted the rest of her life to her family and friends. She made many more friendships on her life's journey that she kept until this day. Mom is survived by her daughter, Nicolette Ross (Randy Strong); grandson Robert Ross (Courtney Berumen); nieces Shelly Erdman and Tana Cory; nephew Paul Shillingstad; many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Harold Ginsburg, Harold and Gladys Cartee; daughter Michelle Ross, son Bobby Kleiter, husbands Edward Ross and Bob Kleiter; sister Sandra Shillingstad; beloved grandparents Emmett and Gertie Burkhead. A celebration of Mom's life will be noon, Saturday, February 28 at Dahl Funeral Chapel; a potluck luncheon will be served.
