Obituary
Mercy Knowlton of Poplar, MT passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Billings Clinic. Mercy loved to cook and was known for many great dishes like her famous fudge, delicious cheeseburgers, and baked beans. She also loved to work in her yard where friends brought friends to see all of her beautiful gardens and walkways. Mercy was a respected farmer throughout northeastern Montana, and was never afraid to hold her own in 'farm talk' that was largely dominated by men. She was also quite proud of her apple trees, which were abundant with apples every fall and were shared among many friends and family. One of Mercy's biggest passions was saving and caring for animals, and throughout her life had never said no to saving and caring for an animal in need. But her greatest love was her family - being with them, having dinners, traveling or just sitting around visiting. She was a blessing to all and all were a blessing to her. She is survived by her longtime friend and companion Eddy Hvamstad; sister Myrna Lauter, brother Raymond Dolezilek; brother Terry Dolezilek; son Richard (Shannon) Knowlton; son Charles (Stephanie) Knowlton; daughter Andrea (Bobby) Trottier, daughter Lauren (Jeff) Dionne; six grandchildren: Natasha Knowlton, Peter Knowlton, Jeffrey Dionne, Charlie Knowlton, Richard Knowlton, Madison Knowlton, and one great granddaughter Amaya Dionne and many nieces and nephews. Mercy was preceded in death by her mother Fannie Red Fox; father Charles Dolezilek; brother Alfred Lizotte; and sister Betty Kirn. Service: Following her wishes, cremation has taken place and a small family service will be held at a later date.

To Mercy's family, Along my travels in the elevator business, Mercy has remained one of my most cherished acquaintances. As a young inexperienced grain buyer she demonstrated great patience with me, this patience did not absolve me of her good natured kidding however. Many were the times that she and Eddie would have me blushing and stammering, and I always looked forward to her next visit. Over time, Mercy taught me much, not only about grain and her ability to grow it so successfully, but also about life in general. I bumped into her several years ago at a mall in Billings, it was the highlight of my trip to be able to visit with her for a short time. I am sure that you will hear this often in the future… I feel very privileged to have known her, the relationship we forged had a positive impact upon my life and I will always be grateful for that. We extend our sincere sympathes to Mercy's family. We got to know Mercy quite well during the time we lived in Poplar and Wolf Poimt, first as a client and then as a good friend. Mercy wss probably one of the most organized person we had the privilege of working with and for. When her father died she immediatley took charge, and everything needed to be done, was done, and done well.Over the years Mercy excelled in raising a family, farming, and serving on the agricultural board. She will be missed by all who knew her. A special thanks to Raymond who called us to tell us of Mercy's passing.
