I met Connie in the first grade and we became fast friends. It was common back then to live in your neighborhood for years and that's what our families did so we continued on in school together for 12 years. We rode our bikes to each other's houses, played together, went to the library, Dairy Queen and all the fun things kids did back then. Our mothers were our Girl Scout leaders which brought us closer together. Connie, or Big Con, as we liked to call her could also find plenty of things to get us in trouble!! Six of us girls from high school went to a cottage together for a weekend and we had a great time! We repeated that with five of us the following summer and managed to stay out of trouble again. I remember the time her family went to Alaska in the old green Chevy station wagon for the summer and all the stories she had. We were on the service squad in elementary together in the days when kids went home for lunch but we lived too far from the school so we had to stay. We joined the "squad" and laughed through our lunches together. Connie was full of fun and had an infectious laugh. I can still hear that laugh now. Thanks for the wonderful memories, Big Con!
