William Lapke

William “Bill” Lapke, 81, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012 at his home in Laurel, Montana, surrounded by family. He was born May 26, 1931, in Madoc, Montana, the son of William and Alice Marie (LaRoche) Lapke. In 1949 he graduated from Scobey High School. Bill enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 and served his country for ten years. He was stationed in Japan and while in the service learned to work with radios. After an honorable discharge he lived in Oakland, California. Bill was hired by Nemont so moved back to Montana and worked there for thirty-plus years. On February 17, 1963 he was united in marriage to Jutta Meyer. Outdoor activities Bill enjoyed were hunting, fishing and gardening. He liked reading, playing cards, puzzle books and woodcarving. He was a San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan. Bill loved spending time with his family. He spent many hours watching his kids and grandkids playing basketball, baseball and volleyball. He was a member of the American Legion. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife Jutta; sisters Mae, Clara, Helen, Marie; brothers Howard and Ernie. He is survived by children, Willette Kuehn, Bruce Lapke, Susan Lapke, Barbara Lapke, April Lapke, Sandra Harding; grandchildren, Doug, Steph, Ty, Philip (Nancy), Chris, Kyra, Jon, Taylor, Briann; great-grandchildren, Lili Ahna, Ben, Madison, Kaylee; siblings, Harvey (Betty), Leo (Aggi) Hazel; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to Rocky Mountain Hospice and special thanks to Merle and Heather for their wonderful care and support. Service: Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Dahl Funeral Chapel. Private family interment of ashes will be held at a later date.
