Obituary
James R. Larson passed away on September 12, 2014 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Billings, MT, of Myasthenia Gravis. He had been diagnosed with the autoimmune disease only three weeks ago. He was 81 years old. He was born in Sioux Falls, SD on October 16, 1932, the son of Clifford A. Larson and Louise (Schmidt) Larson. As an infant the family moved to Lovell, WY where he spent his childhood. When he was 17 years old he joined the Wyoming Army National Guard and soon found himself on his way to Korea as the war broke out in August, 1950. He was attached to the 300th Armored Field Artillery Battalion and spent 18 months in that Asian country while serving his country. CPL Larson was honorably discharged from the service in September, 1952. He was a Lovell High School graduate. He began working for Mountain States Power in 1952. That company later became Pacific Corp and would be Jim's employer for the next 38 years. He worked at various positions during his career and was transferred to Glenrock, WY, Thermopolis, WY, Rawlins, WY and finally Riverton, WY where he retired in 1990. After retiring Jim loved playing golf, and keeping a beautiful yard. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Billings, MT. Jim was married to the love of his life Linda (Brosious) Larson for 57 years. She survives him, as well as the three beautiful children who were born to this union. Nance (John) Moudy of Vancouver, WA; Mitch (Kim) Larson of Riverton, WY and Natalie (Mike) Pigg of Billings, MT. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Chris Moudy, Ryan Moudy, Nic Larson, Nicole Larson, Jay Harris and Whitney Harris, and five great¬grandchildren with two great-grandsons on the way. His only sibling, sister Nan Nicholls of Lovell, WY also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Linda, I was surprised and sorry to read in the latest Lovell Chronicle about Jim's death. It's hard to believe we've all been married for more than 55 years. Where does the time go? It was especially interesting to read of Jim's myasthenia gravis. My oldest son was diagnosed with that about 20 years ago. Though we've been lucky--the doctors removed his thymus gland, and he's been almost symptom-free since then. Please know that my thoughts are with you and your family during this time. It was after the Korean War we enjoyed a visit from our cousin "Jimmy" in Arlington, South Dakota. He was driving a beautiful red convertible and gave us a ride we did not forget. We (all the Larson boys, Don, Bob, Larry, Vern and Joel) enjoyed some time together fishing and visiting. We were excited to be with a cousin we had not seen for many years. We were honored to have him visit and wish we had stayed more in touch over the years. James first cousin Donna Mae also just past away on Sept 23rd. She lived in Sonora Ca. On behalf of all James cousins, All my brothers above, and the many other first cousins, Judy Larson Smith, Rita Rae, Rosalie, Julie, Curtis, and his Aunt Caroline Larson of Wessington Springs, S.D.
