Dennis Leistiko

Dennis Leistiko, our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, of Laurel, MT left us on September 30, 2014 after a very long and tough battle with lung disease. He died in his home surrounded by his three daughters, his dear friend, Fredy, and his hospice team. Dennis was born to Otto and Mabel Leistiko on October 6, 1946 in Caledonia, MN and the family then moved to Livingston, MT where he grew up and attended school. This is where he met the love of his life, Melva Mosback. They were married on May 6, 1967 and shared a beautiful life together until her untimely death on March 23, 1991. He worked for Burlington Northern Sante Fe Railroad as a carman during which time he and his family transferred to Laurel, MT in 1982. After 15 years with the railroad he worked several other jobs with the last being for Ashland Farms. Dad was a true jack of all trades and was a gifted carpenter. His work and customized carpentry filled many homes especially his own. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and truly loved the outdoors. His greatest love was his family and friends. His door was always open for them. He was a very giving and loving man with the biggest heart around. His smile and sense of humor were unique and will always be missed but never forgotten. We know he is in heaven with his beloved wife and no longer in pain. Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, Allen and Rick, two sisters, Diane and Betty Kay and his son in law George. He is survived by his daughters, Diane (Roy) Standley of Billings and her children Travis and Tyler, Michelle Kuper of Miles City, MT and her children Matt, Josh, Jeff, Ashlee and Jacob, Debbie Kaufman of Helena, MT and her children Casey and Samantha and 18 great grandchildren. He is also survived by half siblings, Don Leistiko of Liberty Lake, WA, Marcia Holland, Betty Bergsgaard, Eric Ostern and Cheryl Moore of Spring Grove, MN. We would like to give Special Thanks to Rocky Mountain Hospice for taking such great care of him and his very dear friend Fredy Winters for all you have done for him these last two years.
