William MacBoyle

William “Bill” L. MacBoyle gently passed away at home on Saturday February 15, 2014, due to long term medical conditions. Bill and his twin sister, Betty Lea, were born October 26, 1932, in Spokane, Washington. They were adopted as infants by Elmer and Hazel MacBoyle and moved to Walla Walla, Washington. Betty died four years later of health problems. Bill graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1951. He served during the Korean conflict as a Flight Engineer for Naval Patrol, Squadron 19, flying Lockheed P2V Neptunes in anti-submarine patrol. Bill graduated from Washington State University in 1960 and was fraternity president of Lambda Chi Alpha. He married Susan Hubbard and they were blessed with three children, Kimberly, Kelly and Christopher. In 1963 the family moved to Billings and Bill went to work for Hoiness La Bar Insurance. In 1981 Bill and Susie divorced. Bill started working for Lawson and Darnielle Insurance Agency and then with Cogswell Agency until his retirement in 2011. Bill was active in the Masonry becoming the Master of Rimrock Lodge #149 and Scottish Rite, he was also president of Yellowstone Kiwanis. He served on the board of VOA/Youth Dynamics for 10 years and for many years, he was active in AA sponsoring several individuals and was known for his teaching of the 12 Step Program. With his love for kids and baseball, Bill started working with Little League in 1970 and served as a Little League coach, president and finally as the district administrator for 18 years and treasurer until 2012. He retired after devoting 43 years to Little League. Bill was an “old jock,” went to the YMCA for years and was known to be a darn good racket ball player. Bill married Jani McCall in 1994 and they began their journey together. The blending of the 2 families was easy and over the years they have become very close. Even though Bill's health was daunting, he lived years longer than anyone expected and everyone was amazed at his ability to stay in the game! Bill loved the simple things in life: his family and friends, being home, enjoying the pets, music, and watching sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, his favorite team. His faith was quiet but strong. Bill struggled at times and faced tragedy but he always came through it with amazing humor, strength and wisdom. Jani may have taken care of him for many years, but he took care of her too, providing his unconditional love and a safe haven. They laughed every day and lived well. Bill is preceded in death by his sweet sister, Betty Lea at age 4, his parents, Elmer and Hazel MacBoyle and his dear daughter Kelly. He is survived by his wife Jani, his daughter Kim, his son Christopher (Sheri), his grandson Clinton, and step grandchildren, Kim and Laura, and Susie MacBoyle, his first wife, all of Arizona and John McCall (Christine), step son from Chicago, IL. Services will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 1241 Crawford Dr. off 13th Street, at 1:30 pm Friday, February 21. A reception will follow at the church.
