Obituary
Salvador Maciel passed away peacefully on September 4, 2017. He was born in Wheatland, Wyoming on April 15, 1944 to Miguel and Guadalupe (Lupe) Maciel. He was number 12 of 21 children, and in his younger years he worked on the farm with his siblings. Sal met the love of his life, Sally Ponce, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. During that time, he held many odd jobs until he found his niche in construction as a cement truck driver. He worked 30 years with JTL until his retirement. If you ever needed a helping hand, Sal was the first in line with no hesitation. The word "no" was not in his vocabulary, especially if it meant helping someone else. He had a passion for dancing, driving stock cars, shooting pool and especially listening to Elvis music and watching Elvis movies. Most importantly, he loved attending family celebrations. With the size of his family, it kept him busy. Salvador is survived by his wife Sally; daughters, Tricia (Bob) Burchell, MaDonna Maciel and Nancy (Dave) Worstell; granddaughters, Vanessa Burchell, Tiffany (Brad) Pursell and Nikki Burchell; grandsons, Thomas Maciel, Ryan Ferro and Logan Gallagher; great-grandsons, Knowledge Keeney, Jason Hartwick, John Monrreal, Daylen Pursell and Jayden Hartwick; sisters, Mary (Cecilio) Diaz, Savina (Dave) McKeen, Dorothy Maciel, Julia (Jesse) Mota and Peggy (Al) Mizner; and brothers, John (Ida), Louie, Frank (Pat), Sammy, Richard, Greg (Connie) and Tom (Rita). Salvador was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Virginia Valdez and Lupe Garcia; brothers, Bernie, Mike (Clem), Raymond, Faustino, Marcie (Cruzita) and Joe (Vi). Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 8 at Mary Queen of Peace (Little Flower) Church, 3411 3rd Ave. S. Uncle Sal you've always been a special
Uncle to me. I appreciate you bringing my mom to see me for so many years and always making us laugh on your way in and out. I'm so glad I was able to have you stay and rest in my home before yours and aunties long trip home not too long ago. I never imagined it would be the last time I would see you. I still can not believe it . My heart is heavy with so much sorrow. I'll always remember the good times as a child , going to the races , watching you pour your back patio, making sure we wiped down your stainless steel sink so there were no spots, eating cheerios at your kitchen table the very same one you came home from the bar and talked to Nance and I about the birds and bees and the nights you and auntie would come home and teach us the twist and the jitterbug, and can't forget my all time favorite going to eat chicken at Suds Hut!! I love you uncle Sal and even though I can't be there to wish you farewell please know that I am there with you in spirit. I couldn't ask for a better uncle thank you! You will be greatly missed. Auntie sally you're a strong woman and I know you are gonna make it through , to my cousins Tricia ,Nancy please be strong and know that I love you all. To cousin Madonna you've always been this strong person who takes control and takes care of everyone I know uncle felt safe knowing you were in control and keeping everyone calm even me when I couldn't hold back tears and emotion I love you so much for that! To the Macial family. This is Cindy the long lost daughter and friend. So sorry for your loss. My best and fondest memory is we went to the races every weekend. The girls and i were always called the pit girls. Had our own shirts with sals car number and names on them. I kept that shirt for many many years. You all have been in my thoughts for so many years.
