Ruth “Lou” Laurel Maley, 79, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 in Billings, MT in the presence of family members, after a long battle with Alzheimers disease. Lou was born January 16, 1931 in Lisbon, ND, the daughter of Walter and Audrey Freeberg. She was one of nine siblings.Lou married Marvin Maley on October 20, 1952 in Valley City, ND. Lou has resided in Billings for 48 years.Many family members and friends survive Lou, including her children: Marvin (Pam) Maley of Kalispell, MT, Kelly (Kandy) Maley of Billings, Michelle Maley of New Mexico; one grandson, Jonny Martin Marvin Olson of Red Lodge, MT; four siblings, Leon (Jean) Freeberg of Lisbon, Lawrence (Dorothy) Freeberg of Billings, Lois Seelye of Lisbon and Sandy (Bob) Hill of Hesperia, CA. Lou was preceded in death by her husband Marvin; her parents; three sisters and one brother.Cremation has taken place. A luncheon memorial will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 9 at the VFW in Billings Heights, 637 Anchor Ave. Graveside burial of ashes will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Oakwood Cemetery in Lisbon.Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel of Billings. May you rest in peace my friend; sadness fills my heart as we never did have that luncheon date we discussed for "someday". Our last visit was great and we shared so much; a lot of tears and laughter, memories that spanned over 40 years. Little did we know that our "someday lunch" would never come to pass. You were a good friend and you will never be forgotten. Condolences and prayers go out to your family, you will surely be missed by everyone who knew "the Lou"...

Kelly, Marv and Pam, Johnny, I was very sorry to hear the news of Lou's passing. I know she will be dearly missed. Words can't tell you how blessed I am for having shared even a little part of her life with you. She was very, very, special to me and I couldn't have loved her more if she had been my own mother. I think of her often and have so many cherished memories. My heart goes out to you all as you go to Lisbon to say your final goodbye's, but know that she is safe in the arms of the Lord. I hope you remember to play "Silver Wings" for her....as she told us so many times, it was the song she loved so much. She often said to me "I bet you wish you had ten of me" on days that she was having a difficult time remembering........it is now that I truly wish I had only one more of her, and the chance to say goodbye. All my love to you all.............
