Obituary
Nancy Matheson was born in Billings, MT August 3, 1952. She lived in Billings during her childhood. She grew up in a large family, 3 brothers and 1 sister. She had a daughter Jackie, and soon after met the man she would marry. Nancy and Ron had two children Richard, and then Rhonda. They moved to Anchorage, Alaska. They grew a small shop into one of the larger tractor trailer repair shops in Anchorage. Nancy ran the office and formed friendships that would last 35 years. She had a sharp wit and humor. You could always count on her to have a hot cup of coffee, with time to enjoy a chat. She spent time following her passion of helping rescue animals. She loved all animals and was always fiercely protective of their rights. Nancy and Ron semi-retired, meaning they decided to move back to the states to see the world as truckers. They based out of Salt Lake City and then back to Billings. Nancy wanted to be near family. She loved that she was able to travel to most of the 50 states and meet people from all over the world. She was preceded in death by her mother Annabelle Farnes and father Harold Farnes. She left behind her husband of 47 years Ronald Matheson; daughter Jackie Brown (James), son Richard and daughter Rhonda. She is survived by her siblings Doug (Doreen) Farnes, Donald (Mickey) Farnes, Daryl (Cheryl) Farnes and Linda (Roger) Greenham, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local SPCA in her honor. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

My mother was one of a kind. She was witty and had a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. She was always telling people how much they meant to her. It was by being there always with a conversation or a word of encouragement on Facebook. Please share your favorite memories of my mom, so I can share with my dad and brother.

My memories of Nancy come from a very young age when I used to hang out with Rick. When I would stay the night with Rick he would leave the house late and hang out with the Middleton's until 2-3 am and not get back up until late in day leaving Nancy to entertain a 12 year old boy that was bored and she not once acted like it was a chore. I can always remember Nancy very happy and a very caring mother. Nancy will be loved and missed by many.

I have struggled to find the words to write about this woman who gave birth to me. She made a selfless sacrifice, that I know all too well the cost of. It is an act of selfless love to give a child up for adoption, and you have to live with the cost for the rest of your life. I thank God each day that we were reunited 20 years ago and that we could come to know one another and I could help heal some of the pain I know she lived with just as she healed me and answered so many of my questions. This lady had nothing but unconditional love for me and she showed it time and again. Through my reunion with her I gained the little sister I had wanted my whole life, I gained a man who treated me like his own, and a brother, a bonus most days and other days I think he's the booby prize! Anyone who knows Rick, knows exactly what I'm talking about. Mom and Rick were there through some of the darkest moments in my life and neither failed to do what they could to keep me going. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, she is up there now, gathering all the pets that we all lost, the animals who passed on without having known love, and those that are awaiting their owners. You see she rescued everything, be it an animal, a child, or a grown person, who she just thought needed rescued. She would argue that they rescued her though. I learned where I got that annoying habit from! My poor husband deals with it like Ron did. My favorite memory of her was the first time she heard me sing. There was absolutely no doubt how proud she was and she let everyone know it was her daughter on stage. I am going to miss her greatly, her sharp wit, her sarcasm. Thank you Mom for the life you chose to give me, and for the chance to get to know you. I love you.

I want to thank you for the jounery that we have taken over the past 47 years. Thank you for being my significant other,
my wife, the mother of our children and especially my best friend. Thank you for letting me follow my dreams
of trying to provide a better life for our family even tho it took me to distant places for extended periods of time. I know that now you will join your family and friends from the past with everlasting peace for all. Thank you for caring for me and our children. Thank you for the support during the tuff times and the joy for the good times. I know that sometimes special people are recruited early for their journey thru heaven and that you will make heaven a better place for all that you meet. After you had met a stranger they were no longer a stranger but another friend. I will take care of your children now until we meet again. Thank you again for everything that you have done for us but most of all thank you for being you and especially for being my best friend. I have always loved you and always will. Rest In Peace.
We will met again on the other side. Your best friend.

Nancy, my first sister (in-law), always with a smile & a chuckle! I am fortunate to have had many years (47 to be exact) of your wise wisdom. You always knew when I needed you, even when I didn't. Either a phone call or text to ease my day. Just like a sister we've had our moments, some good some bad. But in the end, the ties of family have kept us together. Just remember, you are loved and will be missed by many friends and family! Always, Diana Matheson-Larson
