Wayne Beaner

Wayne began his life journey on March 22, 1938, when he was born to Leo and Ida (Lambertz) Beaner in Humboldt, SD. His life journey ended Saturday, April 7th, 2012, after a short but courageous battle to overcome a massive brain aneurysm suffered February 4th, 2012 at Valley HealthCare Center. Wayne grew up in Humboldt, SD. After graduating from high school, he joined the SD Air National Guard. He was honorably discharged after two years of service. From there, he attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE, where he met his wife, Angela. Wayne and Angela began their life together on May 2, 1959, in Stratton, CO. After they were married, they lived in Eastern South Dakota where they farmed. They then moved to Brookings, SD, where Wayne attended SDSU-Brookings. They later moved to Sioux Falls where Wayne entered his chosen field as a draftsman. He worked for Egger Steel and Gage Brothers. During this time, he also taught drafting at the College of Technology in Sioux Falls. He also joined the Knights of Columbus. Wayne and Angela were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Wayne could always be found helping those Sisters whenever they needed something done! During the early years of their marriage, Wayne and Angela welcomed their four children, Therese (Frank) Johnson, Janet (Quentin) Bohrer, David (Kim) Beaner and Lynne (George) Fairchild. Can anyone say diaper assembly line? In 1976, Wayne accepted an offered to transfer to Billings, MT, for Egger Steel. He was a draftsman for Montana Prestress. He also worked for United Prestress until 1986. Wayne was working for CTA Architect at the time of his retirement. In 1988, Wayne became an insurance field agent for the Knights of Columbus. During his many years in Billings, he held many of the offices within the KC organization, including Faithful Navigator and Grand Knight. He was a member of the 4th Degree. In 1998, he was elected State Deputy for the Montana Knights of Columbus. For the next two years, Wayne and Angela traveled together to many KC functions. They made many new and lasting friendships within the organization. At the time of his illness, he was the Financial Secretary for Council #1259. Wayne is survived by his wife of 52 years, 11 months and 7 days, Angela, his four children, eleven grandchildren, Monica, Sara, Angela, Andrea, Michael, Tanya, Samantha, Cassandra, Jacob, Nicholas and Katrina. Wayne also had eight great-grandchildren, Jayde, Billy, Jacob, Brooklynne, AvaLeigh, Hayden, Kyra and Dominic. He is also survived by his brothers Norman, Donald, Thomas and Larry, and his sisters Katherine and JoAnn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Ida Beaner, one sister Rhoda, and two nephews, Darrell and Joseph. Special thanks to the wonderful doctors and staff at the University of Colorado, Neurology Department, Advanced Care Hospital of Montana, and Valley Health Care Center for their care of our husband, father and papa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wendy's Adopt-a-Child in Billings or Catholic Social Services Adoption Program. Service: Visitation will be Thursday, April 12th, from 10:00 – 5:00 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. The Vigil will be at 7:00 pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2055 Woody Drive. Funeral Mass will be Friday, April 13th, at 11:00 am with luncheon to follow. There will be a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser sponsored by Council #1259 at the Knights of Columbus Hall Friday evening starting at 6:00 pm. A $5 donation is requested.
