Obituary
Chance Ray Mavity was born April 8, 1992 in West Covin, California, changing our lives forever. He was taken from us too soon on Sunday, January 20, 2019. Chance attended school in Shepherd, MT. He was very athletic and excelled in several sports, including baseball, football, soccer, snowboarding and skateboarding. However, his passion was motor cross. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad. He was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Shepherd, Boy Scouts, and 4-H. Chance graduated in 2008 near the top of his class from Youth Challenge Academy in Dillon. He then went on to serve two years in the US Army in the tank unit. Chance worked in all forms of construction. Chance was a devoted father right down to playing Barbies with his girls. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sharon and Glenn Mavity, and Wayne Hodson. He is survived by his parents, Monte and Betty Jean (Hodson) Mavity; brother Chisum Mavity; three beautiful daughters who were his pride and joy, Ella Jocelyn (8), Aubrionna Rose (7) and Audrianna Rae (5); as well as his longtime girlfriend Cassy Lee; and many loved ones. Our son desperately wanted to overcome his drug addiction. He fought very hard to do so. Chance was so much more than just his disease. We never gave up on him, loving and supporting him no matter what. Chance is finally free of his demons, his pain, and finally at peace. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Friday with Funeral Service 2:00 pm Saturday, January 26, 2019, both at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Cremation will take place and Chance's ashes will be buried in Sidney, Montana.

The death of your precious loved son in the highlight of life is the most devastating experience your family will face. At times, the pain of the loss will feel unbearable. Please know that there are friends who care about you and your family during this difficult time. Most importantly Psalm 34:18 tells us that "God is near to those that are broken at heart.” Jehovah sees your tears and knows your pain Isaiah 25:8 The Bible provides comfort and can be seen at jw.org. We pray that Jehovah the God of all comfort is with your family during this difficult time of grief.

I knew Chance from middle school all through high school. He always knew how to make me laugh and keep a smile on my face. BJ Im at a loss for words right now to say to you. Theres nothing you can say to a mother grieving over the loss of their child. All I can say I can say is Im so sorry and you're in my prayers. Chance was a kind soul and will always have a place in my heart. Rest easy my Noni Bear. Until we meet again.

Monte, Betty Jean, Chisum, I am so very sorry for the death of your son/brother, Chance. No matter the circumstances, he was still your son and no parent should ever have to bury their child. Chance is now free from his addiction and the demons that controlled that. No words of comfort will ease your pain but know that you all are in my prayers.
