Jere McCaulay

Jere C. McCaulay, 88, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at St. Vincent's Hospital from pneumonia. Jere, son, father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather and good friend was born on April 2, 1930 in Ft. Benton, MT to Clarence and Amanda (Flesche) McCaulay. He was the youngest of three; he had two older sisters, Carley and Dixie. Jere grew up in the Ft. Benton area and spent his boyhood on, and in, the Missouri River fishing, swimming and exploring. His family moved to Great Falls where he graduated from high school in 1948. He met his first wife, Carol Winkler, in Lewistown, MT and the two married on July 4, 1954. Jere and Carol had four children, two sons and two daughters. He was widowed in May of 1980 and on June 19, 1982 he married Marlene Tesch. Jere was employed in the food distributor industry as a delivery driver; he later changed his career path and moved into sales before becoming a college recruiter for the DeVry Institute of Technology until his retirement. In his years following retirement he enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, woodworking and gardening, specializing in tomatoes. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, his first wife, Carol and Robert Red “Fur”, the cat. He is survived by his four children, Jere-Ann (Bob) Nelson of Helena, MT, Kevin (Linda) McCaulay of North Bay, Ontario, Kurt McCaulay of Lewistown, MT and Jan McCaulay of Billings, MT; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; wife, Marlene. The family would like to express their extreme gratitude for the wonderful care that was provided to our father and husband at Butterfly Homes of Billings and St. Vincent's Hospital. A Celebration of Jere's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Faith Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
