Stephen Beaumont

On June 26, 1981 Stephen Smith was born to Jolene Ann Beaumont and Leo Daniel Plainfeather in Billings. He and his older brother, Neal, were legally adopted by his grandparents, Martha and Philip Beaumont, Sr. Joining his grandparents in raising him were Marcia and Ronnie Beaumont. His life on this earth ended in the early morning hours of August 1, 2012. We find peace in knowing he was greeted on the other side by his grandparents and many relatives. Stephen was known by “Smitty” to all who loved him. This included the-girl-next-door, Patty C. Brush, whom he married in October, 2007. He leaves behind two sons, Kyle and Cody and his daughter Elizabeth. The day Elizabeth was born was the best day of his life. He called her “Sweetheart” and loved being a father. He was raised in Pryor attending St. Charles and Plenty Coups High School. He belonged to the Greasy Mouth Clan of the Apsalooke Nation and was a Bad War Deeds Child. He was given the name Alleesha Uxxosh Beesha (Much Gold On A Military Uniform Sleeve) by the late Fred TurnsBack. He was an active member of Mountain Crow Worship Center as an adult and St. Charles in his youth. “Smitty” had three passions in life: family, horses and hunting. He will forever be remembered for his storytelling, jokes, hugs and laughter. He was employed by Montana Sprinkler at the time of his passing, but labored all of his adult life on the family ranch and in the construction trade. He was a self-taught repairman always willing to help his friends and family in need. He often checked in with us just to see if we were alright and if we needed anything. His grandfather relied on him to maintain his prized quarter horse herds. “Smitty” took great pride in his role as the family horse trainer. On his last evening he was over at the corral working the horses with his nephews and Neal. “Smitty” and Patty had just become home-owners and he delighted the family with his joy preparing for the big move. It was almost all he could talk about. He is deeply missed by all the children who called him “Uncle”. His siblings are: Neal J. Beaumont, Jesse and Seth Whiteclay, Barry Howe, Laramie (Cabrina), Lorena and Danielle Plainfeather. Other family members calling him “Brother” are J.C. and Shawna Beaumont, Matthew Bell, Michael and Sarah Beaumont, Jami Beaumont, Salena Hill, Athena, Ron and Tessa Beaumont, Sarah Stewart, Lori Crow, Darcy Merchant, Nicole Merchant-Turnsplenty, Irvina and Leo Stewart, Phil and C.C. Cole. He was great friends with each of his brother-in-laws, especially Chris Blacksmith, Kevin Brush and Clarent Stewart. We all appreciated his ability to stay neutral accepting every one of us as loved ones no matter our flaws. He could tease with the best, but his genuine care for us is how he will be remembered. Stephen had a copious number of relatives and friends he loved including the Alex LaForge family, and extended families including Holds, BirdHat, DeCrane, Haun, Plainfeather, Half, Birdinground, Takes The Horse, Redwolf, LittleNest, SunGoesSlow, Little Owl, Snell, BellRock, Old Elk, Birdinground, Reed, LongTail, Hugs, Morrison-Alden, Iron, OldHorn, BlackHawk, Stewart, Wilson, Bulltail, Stone, Rides Horse, Don't Mix, Dillon, Travels Well Known (Nomee) and Hangs The Meat, Pretty Eagle and Albert Thunder Iron (Lincoln) descendents. Any names omitted are not intentional. We are discovering how very many considered him a dear friend. Thank you for your presence and prayers. Visitation: Dahl Funeral Chapel on Friday, August 3 from 10-4 Service: Vigil services will be at 6pm on Friday at Mountain Crow Worship Center in Pryor, Montana. Funeral services will be held at Pryor High School on Saturday, August 4 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the Lodge Grass Cemetery.
