Obituary
Harriet Marie McPhee, of Billings, passed away at Billings Clinic, Wednesday, August 29, 2012. She was 88. Harriet was born in Fallon, Montana, a daughter of Odin and Marie Gjerde. At age 13, she moved with her parents to Forsyth, MT where she graduated from high school in 1941. She attended business college and worked in Portland, OR and Billings. She married Donald McPhee of Forsyth on Sept. 13, 1945. Don and Harriet resided in Billings and built the Crescent Cleaners. They ran the dry cleaning business, along with Rusty and Vivian Hanson, for 49 years. They were avid bridge players, participating in couples' bridge marathons and Harriet also enjoyed her afternoon bridge clubs. Harriet was a very accomplished seamstress and did tailoring for many years. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Survivors include, Terri (Tedd) Stanisich of Dillon, Mike McPhee of Dillon, and JoDel (Rick) Sonnemann of Billings. She treasured three grandchildren, Cory Sonnemann, and Mick and Luke Stanisich. She also enjoyed her nieces and nephews, Bob Hanson, Linda Jones, and Kim Yasenak. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald McPhee and sister, Vivian Hanson. Service: Cremation has taken place and a private gathering will be held at a later date.

Dear JoDel...I am so sorry for your loss. I remember your mom as such a kind and lovely lady! And so hardworking! Your parents were such hardworking, kind people and I know you will miss them. I remember you telling me that you and your mom used to shop together and treat yourself to a Diet Coke (!) Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. To the family of Harriet McPhee I leave my message of sympathy. I knew your family years ago when your parents Harriet and Don operated the Crescent Cleaners and lived just "across the field" on 8th street west in Billings. They were so kind to employ my brother Allen who was only a high school student at the time. Not only did they nurture him as a young employee, but they did the same for all three of you children. You three were quite young at the time. Your mother had such patience and love for you. She was an excellent business woman and took pride in her work. I'm sorry I lost track of Harriet over the years. I know she will live on in your memories.
