Rita Beck

Rita Clare (Mitchell) Beck, a loving and compassionate wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend passed away from a tragic accident on September 23. 2018. She was born in Billings on July 30, 1966, the 13th of 14 children to Jim and Lois Mitchell, and was raised surrounded by many loving brothers, sisters and friends. She was a graduate of Billing West High School in 1984 and earned a degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1992. Rita married Douglas Beck, the love of her life and her pillar of strength, in August 1986. They were blessed with two sons, Jake (1987) and Kyle (1992) who were her greatest loves. Rita and Doug were at their best as the parents of their boys. They raised their family in Great Falls, MT watching their boys play sports, enjoying family ski weekends and traveling on great adventures. Their home was full of love, joy and laughter and was a favorite gathering place for Jake and Kyle's friends as well as family celebrations. Rita was the kindest, most caring person you could ever meet, and family was everything to her. Her son Jake's single word to capture his Mom's personality, was “Faith” and the quote he chose to describe her was: “When our eyes see our hands doing the work of our hearts, the circle of Creation is completed inside us, the doors of our souls fly open and love steps forth to heal everything in sight.” --Michael Bridge Rita's lifelong compassion for those in need had a positive impact across Montana communities. She was a dedicated social worker in Great Falls helping teen parents to develop positive parenting skills. Most recently, Rita and Doug cared for their many dear customers in Billings and the surrounding area through their local business. Rita and Doug lost both of their boys too soon, Jake passed away in 2006 and Kyle in 2015. She is now at peace with them and her parents, James and Lois Mitchell, whom all preceded her in death. Rita touched so many people's lives and she will be missed by all. Our loss is heaven's gain. Rita is survived by her loving and devoted husband Doug; 13 brothers and sisters and their spouses; mother-in-law and her husband; sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews who loved her very much. Viewing will take place at Dahl Chapel, 10 Yellowstone Ave., Billings, MT 59101 on Sunday, September 30 from 1:00 to 3:00. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, October 2 at The Elk's Club, 934 Lewis Ave., Billings, MT 59101.
