Obituary
Michael Joseph Moran, 68, passed away peacefully at home with his wife and son by his side after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born in Great Falls on the 16 Sep 1946, the first child of Merrill Arthur and Mary Ellis (nee Scott) Moran. He graduated from Great Falls High School in 1964. It was at that time when he moved to Billings, making it his home for the remainder of his life. Mike graduated from Eastern Montana College in 1972 with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Education. Mike met the love of his life, Marlene Marie Meyer, while working his way through college. They were married at St. Pius X Catholic Church on the 29 Dec 1972. To that union were born two children, Chad Michael Moran and Katie Michael Moran. Mike was the owner of Mike Moran Builders and was known for his master craftsmanship and perfectionism. He built many custom homes throughout Billings. He was an avid collector of art, most especially etchings by Ace Powell. Along with his passion for art, he enjoyed matting and framing the art himself. He was a charter member of the Absaroka Region of the Porsche Club of America. He loved car shows and appreciated classic cars. He also enjoyed downhill skiing and travelling with his wife and children. Mike loved spending time with his children, never missing any of Chad's baseball games or Katie's dance recitals. Mike was predeceased by his precious daughter Katie, whose death in 1999 broke his heart; along with his parents and his youngest brother, Casey Moran. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, and his son Chad. He is also survived by a brother, John (Leslie) Moran, of Missoula, and a sister, Sue Moran, of Salt Lake City, in addition to many nieces and nephews and a dear and beloved friend Theresa Wehr. Memorials may be made to the Katie Moran Scholarship Fund through the Billings Area Catholic Education Trust (BACET) Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015 at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Committal will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Many childhood memories come from the Moran and Scott cousins living one house away from one another. Birthdays and holidays celebrated together. I remember our parents and grandparents playing cards and all us kids had a blast running wild in the Moran house. As long as we didn't bother our parents we pretty much did what we wanted. The good old days when kids built forts and played outside. Mike you will be missed by all. Rest in peace cousin. Shirley
