Obituary

Gary Kevin Morgan passed away August 16, 2017 in Billings, MT. He was 64. Born in Montreal, Gary grew up in Santa Clara, CA and attended Buchser High School. He loved music and was a drummer all his life, playing in bands throughout his youth and then again later in life. He married, raised a daughter, and lived in Concord, CA, Seattle and Billings during his career as a food service manager. He loved cooking, gardening, fishing and the outdoors. And he loved his dogs: first Sienna and then Sadie. Gary is survived by his daughter Stephanie Evernden, her partner Ryan Baker and granddaughter Brooklyn Baker of Billings, MT; brother Harold Morgan and his partner Kathy Silberman of Austin; sister Janice Morgan and her partner Michael Rowe of San Jose; nephew Cody Kraatz, his wife Angela Dube and son Cameron Kraatz of San Jose; stepfather Ralph Heinen of Camas, WA; and fellow fisherman Joshua Joshua of Billings. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia (Ginny) Heinen of Camas, and father, Harold Victor Morgan of San Jose. We'll remember Gary giving Sadie a few pats before wading into a cold, fast-moving trout stream. Private services will be held.

I worked with Gary for many years at St. John's , and I remember him fondly. What a caring soul Gary was. He touched many people and he was a mentor to many, many young lives in his daily work here. I was surprised and saddened to hear of his passing, but I will never forget him. Gary was a one of a kind, great guy!

I met Gary in the Seattle area, in the early 90's. He was my boss at Pacific Regent. During that time, he taught me a lot about Management. He promoted me, while trying to groom me for a Management position of my own. I ended up leaving Pacific Regent to go to college in Bellingham, WA. Throughout those years, I would come and visit with Gary. We would talk business, life, music and family. He wrote wonderful letters of recommendation for me, and they helped me secure successful employment. Moving forward, we moved to Billings two years ago, and I tried to get in touch with him, but I heard he was sick. I'm so sad that we didn't get the chance to visit. As a Cancer Survivor, I'm almost always at home, and he was my Husband's former boss as well. We always wanted to visit him and tell him the funny story how we met, years later, and tell him about our daughters. I remember meeting Stephanie when she was about 8. He absolutely LOVED his little girl, and looked forward to going home to see her everyday! I don't think a day went by where he didn't mention his family, and how much they meant to him. Stephanie...I'm so sorry for your loss. Know that he was proud, and loved you so much. With tears in my eyes, I'll put on a little Rolling Stones, and remember our time together.

I too met Gary at St. John's. His office was by the stairs and we would often have great visits as I was passing. He was a kind man and I was sad to read of his death. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
