I met Mike in the 70’s. We were both newly divorced single parents. Neither of us were ready for dating. We were just friends. Mike took me on my first dear hunting outing. Mike was mortified that I was not wearing an adequate warm coat. We had a successful hunt that filled my freezer with meat. A couple of weeks later Mike showed up at my door to give me a beautiful red down jacket. I was so touched. We remained casual friends. I wore that coat for many, many years. When it was showing it’s age, I wore it for doing chores. Everyone could spot me out in the field in my red jacket. Every time I put on that jacket I thought fondly of Mike. Our encounter was brief but it’s impact on me was lasting. I loved reading his obituary and how much he was loved and admired. Mike made this world a better place.

Dear Doug: I'm sorry you lost such an amazing father recently. It is obvious his zest for life and his simple way of enjoying that life has been passed on to you. Blessings and prayers to you and your family as you take one day at a time to embellish your lives with your Dad's legacy. Cyndi Kosmann

With concern to the health of all who knew and loved Mike, the family has decided it best to defer his memorial gathering until this fall, (targeting Saturday, October 10; subject to change). Updates will be posted here, or write to mullowneys@yahoo.com. We hope you'll be able to join us at harvest time.
