Marjorie Murphy

Marjorie (Shay) Murphy, 89, of Billings, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Billings Health and Rehab. She was born October 19, 1924 in Laurel, Montana, the daughter of J. Roscoe and Lela (Bray) Shay. Marjorie graduated from Laurel High School and then from MSU Deaconess School of Nursing, Great Falls Unit in 1944. She was united in marriage to Frank Murphy on March 14, 1948 and they lived in Billings. She was very proud of being a RN and loved her work as an operating room supervisor at Deaconess Hospital, then as a private duty nurse, and finally as the public health nurse at the Federal Building. Marjorie's great love was her family and she dedicated her life to raising her four children after her husband, Frank, died in 1965. Marjorie was an avid sports fan (Go Lakers!). And she loved relaxing at the family cabin in the Beartooths where she ruled the roost and made the best breakfasts in the world. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, and brother Kenneth Shay. She is survived by her brother Charles (Val) Shay of Lynnwood Washington, her children Ella Laden, of Gardnerville, NV, Frank (Nancy) Murphy of Laurel, Charlie (Anne) Murphy of Molt, and Patty (Jack) Burke of Lancaster, CA; her granddaughters Shauna (Jim) Watson, Kira (Jay) Brown, Nicole (Damian) Forrester, Kimberly Murphy, and Lorena Eve; her great-grandchildren Eleni, Kolten, Brooklyn, Luke, D.J. and Roxy. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
