Obituary
On August 15, 2010, at the age of 88, Loren Lee Nichols went to be with the Lord. Loren passed away at Bonaventure Assisted Living.Loren was born the son of Eliza Irene (Batye) and Barry E. Nichols on April 3rd, 1922 at Columbia, MO.Loren was married to Agatha Hulet in 1940; they had 3 children. On April 16, 1955, Loren was united in marriage to the lady of his life, Agnes K. (Kittler) Nichols.In his early life, at the age of 9, Loren left home to work as a cowboy for a large cattle ranch near Buffalo, WY. Loren served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII.Loren was self-employed as a contract transporter of petroleum and jet fuel throughout the northwest states, retiring after several decades.A student of American History, he specialized on Lewis & Clark, the Early American Cowboy Life, Americas Battles of the American West and was a fine gunsmith. In retirement he enjoyed assisting his dear “Aggy” in creating flower gardens and a beautifully landscaped yard.Loren is survived by his wife Agnes of Billings; daughters: Peggy J. (Wil) Keyser of Dalles, OR, Patsy L. (Benjamin) Steynen of Appleton, WA; son, David L. (Carolyn Edison) Nichols of Watertown, SD; half-brother, Billy Boyce of Columbia, MO; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Carrol, Paul, Venbel; sisters: Cleo, Jewell; step-brothers: David Roberts, Allene Nowlin; step-sister, Shirley Manis.A memorial service for family and friends will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Dahl Funeral Chapel.
