Phyllis Nistler
December 20, 1934 - March 29, 2011
Obituary
Phyllis Marie Nistler, age 76, of Billings, passed on Tuesday March 29th, 2011 at St. Vincent Healthcare from a stroke. She was born December 2oth, 1934 in Wibaux, MT. Phyllis grew up in Wibaux with her parents Marie and Mickey Dunn and 4 siblings, Cliff, Frank, Delores and Dianne. She married her high school sweet heart Ron Nistler on August 25th, 1955. Together they had four daughters - Sandra, Jackie, Jill who passed away at birth, and Shannon. They spent the beginning of their marriage raising their children and pursuing Rons college education and career as a teacher and coach. Her life revolved around her family and she loved spending time with them. With Phyllis, every holiday and birthday was extra special, with gifts, decorations, and cards covered in stickers and filled with confetti. She always went to extra lengths to spoil her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other special relatives. She loved to shop, go out to eat and order pie, and take in a movie where she was always the first one in the theatre. Her home was always a place where we all felt welcomed, loved, and well fed. She must have cooked hundreds of meals for us with a special dinner we called “Soul Food” each Sunday for the family for several years. She was remarkable at supporting and caring for her family in a special loving way through gifts, food, shopping, and sharing conversations. We all loved to spend time with her and will miss her dearly. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Marie and Mickey Dunn, husband Ron, daughter Jill, and siblings Frank and Delores. She is survived by her siblings Cliff Dunn (wife Donna), Dianne Watembach (husband David of Wibaux), three daughters Sandra Sawicki , Jackie Rojas (husband Andy Rojas of Longmont, CO), and Shannon Lopez; grandchildren Jeremy Sawicki (wife Jessi), Jenny (Sawicki)Toews (husband Mark Toews), Brienna Jones (husband Casey of Longmont, CO), and Aaron Rojas (Longmont, CO); great-grandchildren Ava and Halle Sawicki, Mia and Micah Toews, and Tristan Jones. Memorials: In honor of Phyllis, please share an act of kindness; buy a friend a flower, read a child a book, or do something special for a family member. Service: A Vigil will be held at 7:00pm Friday, April 1st at Dahl Funeral Chapel , and her funeral will be held 11:00am Saturday April 2nd at St. Pius Church.

We were sorry to hear about Phyllis' illness and death. The first time I (Shirley) remember seeing her was a couple of years before I started high school. Coming from a country school, I had never seen a cheerleader. Phyllis was coming out of her home in Wibaux wearing her cheerleading outfit. To this day, I think of her as the "prettiest" cheerleader I have ever seen. Through the years she was always dressed very neat, with an attractive hair do, and a big smile on her face, very much like her Mother Marie, and her sisters, Delores and Diane. Though I don't know her daughters or grandkids, I pray that they too, will hold in their hearts some of the same memories I have of her, and picture her as another beautiful person that has entered the Gates of Heaven. My prayers are with you at this time. Phyllis and I worked together at St. Francis Upper School as the "lunch ladies". We had a lot of fun and time passed swiftly on our shift. We could always find something to talk about. My deepest sympathy to you All and to Shannon "Hang in there girl. Remember God is with you at this time and forever." I am sorry I will be out of town this weekend and unable to attend services. God bless you all, Dorothy Rangitsch

My dear "sisters" and your families - my deepest sympathies for the loss of your mom. Growing up across the street your mom was a part of our lives and helped our family out many times. Your mom was a great ear and gave some wonderful advice to me as I was growing up. I know she is right next to your dad now and watching over all of you. Peace be with you all, you made her last years here on earth very special by being there for her. With much love - Tana
