Obituary
Myron G. Oakland, 75, of Billings, Montana, was called by his heavenly father after a tenacious fight with cancer. He was born January 31, 1938, in Rhame, North Dakota to Lawrence and Ona Oakland. Myron graduated from Rhame High School in 1956. He married Sharon Munari of Billings, Montana, in 1959 and were later divorced. Myron proudly volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army in 1960 and received an honorable discharge in 1966. In 1966, he moved his family to Yuma, Arizona where he worked for Braden's John Deere. Myron often said that the years in Yuma were some of the best times of his life. In 1973, he moved his family back to Billings where he worked for Tractor and Equipment for 29 years; he received many sales and service awards before his retirement. Myron enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, camping, and taking many wonderful family vacations to the Gulf of California, San Diego, and North and South Dakota. He took pride and comfort knowing that his grandson, Justin Stockfish, and his daughter Sherry Oakland (Raymond) Dompier, whom he had a close and special bond with and were there for anything he needed and loved him dearly, were by his side until his death. Myron was very proud of his son, Shawn Oakland, and his grandsons Cole and Wyatt Oakland. Myron is survived by his sisters and their families whom he loved dearly: Carol and Lanny Vail of Bowman, ND, Linda Aasen of Rapid City, SD, Joann and Keith Lutz of Omaha, NE, and Carlyle Sunden of Billings, and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by an infant sister Christina, sister Opal Sunden, brothers-in-law Carlyle Sunden and Kenny Aasen. Myron should be remembered for his easy demeanor, sense of humor, his kind heart, his fight for life, his service to his country, and most of all, the best daddy and grandpa ever. Service: Visitation will be noon to 5:00 p.m. Friday. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21 at Dahl Funeral Chapel, followed by a luncheon. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Rhame, ND.

To the Family and Friends of Myron G. Oakland Losing a loved one can be devastating. However, please take comfort in knowing that death isn’t the end. In fact, Jesus himself demonstrated that by what he did when he learned of his dear friend Lazarus' death when he was on earth. The account recorded at John chapter 11 verses 11-14, 39, 43, and 44 shows that to those who were with him when he got the bad news, Jesus said: "Lazarus has falling asleep and I am going to awaken him". However when he realized that his disciples didn’t understand what he meant, he simply told them that Lazarus has died. Did you notice that Jesus compared death to sleep? He did indeed to prove that just as one can be awaken from sleep those who have died will come also come back to life at the resurrection in the last day. (John 11:25) To prove it, the account in John 11 also tells us that Jesus asked Lazarus' sisters to take him to the grave where Lazarus was already buried for four days. When he got there, he called Lazarus, and asked him to come out of the grave and Lazarus did as if he was never dead. Amazing isn't it? Well, what Jesus did then is a preview of what he'll soon do for those who have died when he rules or governs the entire earth as King of God’s heavenly Kingdom/Government. (Daniel 7: 13 and 14); (Daniel 2:44) When that times comes, the following Scriptures also confirm that Jesus will eliminate all the problems we deal with today such as SICKNESS, OLD AGE, WAR, VIOLENCE, PAIN, DEATH. Yes, EVEN OUR DEAD LOVED ONES WILL BE RESURRECTED with the opportunity to live forever right here on earth, which will become a paradise. (Isaiah 33:24); (Job 33:25); (Psalms 46: 9 and 10); (Isaiah 2: 4); (Psalms 37: 9-11 and 29); (Revelation 21: 3 and 4); (John 5: 28 and 29). Myron was my supervisor at T&E and was a great boss but was a good friend. 12 yrs ago I changed jobs but Myron and I still kept in touch with Christmas cards and conversations every few months. I have him as a reference on my resume. Be at peace and I will miss you "MO" My thoughts are with you Sean and Sherrie.
