Obituary

Patrick Casey O'Donnell was born on June 23, 1954 in Billings, one of eleven children. Pat was the sixth child of John and Winifred O'Donnell. Later, two sisters and three brothers joined the family. He was baptized at Holy Rosary Catholic Church and made his First Reconciliation and First Eucharist at St. Pius X Church. Pat was proud to have a Goddaughter, Katy Theresa O'Donnell-Webb. Pat attended grade school and high school in Billings. He graduated from Billings Senior High School. Pat worked at McDonalds and Burger King. He kept the family entertained with his stories of exploding shake machines and customer messes. City busses were Pat's favorite form of transportation to work or downtown. Pat would often ride the entire route just to talk to the driver. Objects and baked goods would mysteriously disappear from the home. When questioned, Pat would sheepishly laugh and admit giving them to the bus driver. We are sure they deserved them! Anywhere Patrick traveled around town, he'd see someone he knew. Pat loved everything Disney. Mickey Mouse was his favorite character. Patrick was fortunate enough to visit Disneyland. He collected memorabilia of Disney, Wizard of Oz, Shirley Temple and Betty Boop. His free time was spent listening to old records and watching old movies. Pat had an extensive collection of movies and cartoons. Pat and his mother had a special bond. They lived together until his mom passed 9 years ago. Pat's most recent home was at Autumn Springs where he received the love and care of many. Patrick was preceded in death by his father, his mother and his brother Mike. He is survived by his six brothers and three sisters, Jack and Tom of Billings, Bill (Kay) of Spring Valley Lake CA, Nancy O'Donnell and Barry of Billings, Mary (Jerry) Herden of Ranchester WY, Mark (Michele) of Billings, Theresa (Larry) Uhrich of Columbus and Kevin of Bothell WA. Pat is also survived by 25 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Pat was a special child of God. Pat's favorite song was “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. Pat left this side of the rainbow to cross over to the other side on Saturday, August 11, 2018. He was surrounded with love and family. The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of St. Vincent's Hospital and of the ICU. Patrick often requested his favorite nurses by name. A Vigil service will be held at 6pm Friday, August 31, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10am Saturday, September 1, at St. Patrick's Co-Cathedral. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memories may be shared at www.dahlfuneralchapel.com

Patrick was a very special guy to myself and my husband, Steve. He rode Steve's bus daily. Steve and Patrick had a very special bond. He would confide in Steve on numerous occasions. They shared stories of his travels and family life. I got to know Patrick on the same bus. Our lives continued to cross outside of the bus realm and into the library scene as I served him in the library and the living facilities. It always brightened his day to see his friends and get enjoyment through his movies. I remember seeing Patrick recently at Autumn Care as we drove up. He came to the window of our truck and greeting me with a smile and happiness. Patrick will be missed but not forgotten. His humor, enlightenment, and personalities will remain alive in the hearts he has touched. May they also remain alive in your hearts forever. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. Patrick is among the choirs of angels (along with my husband who left us recently too). He will truly be alive in your hearts and minds. Peace, Mary

I had the privelage of having Patrick as a client for the past 5 years. He always had a story to share about something or somebody. He made sure to call and check on me or let me know where he was headed. Patrick had his little lepracaun grin when he was trying to tease or pull a fast one if it worked it was total laughter "I got ya didn't I". Helping Patrick to fullfill his life by being as independent as possible was a true joy. I must admit I miss my phones call a minimum of 3x per week. It was his duty and joy to take his lady friends for walks or help those in a wheelchair to their eating spot. The ladies at Autumn Springs miss his help and spunk. Thank you for bringing so much joy to my work and a friendship not to be forgotten. Brenda Weston

Pat was always a bright spot in the day when he came to see all of us at Gainan’s Garden Center. He had many special ladies he made sure had a flower to brighten their day, but no one was remembed more or with more love than his mother. He often got in a little trouble for his generosity with the flowers , but that little impish smile usually helped him get things worked out till the next pay day. He’d stop by after working at Burger King and tell us stories and share laughs. The Connolly’s and the O’Donnell families were friends , so he would always make sure he found me and said hello and filled me in on where everyone was and what they were doing. He led a good life and was a kind and gentle soul. Heaven is a better place today because it got a pretty special angel with Pats arrival. Pam Connolly.

The girls and I loved spending time with Pat. Her got so excited when we visited and made them feel so special. Shealynn was his goddaughter, and he would greet her 'Hello Goddaughter ' and laugh everytime we saw him. The party few years I ran into Pat around town several times. He always asked about Shealynn and Kathleen, wanted to know everything they were doing. I will always be grateful to Pat for loving my girls and giving them those special memories. I knew Pat in his younger years when he attended elementary school. Then again when he had assisted living services through COR. Patrick was a joy when he hung out with staff and others at COR. I remember one of the times I took him to Albertsons and he went to one cashier, and I went to another cashier when we left the store he told me the guy behind him paid for his groceries because he didn’t have enough money, he just smiles and laughed all the way to the van. When Pat moved to Autumn Springs I would go and visit him and he always greeted me with a huge bear hug shouting out my name. I truly will miss that spunky personallity. R.I.P. my friend.
