Alexander Olsen

EOCN Alexander Scott Olsen was born June 29th, 1986, in Spokane, Washington. He is the beloved son of Mark Olsen and Sheri Sala, and cherished brother to Erik, Hannah, and Lydia. Shortly after his birth the family moved to California where he spent his first eight years. In 1994, the Olsens moved to Billings, MT to be close to family. Alex was a very talented and creative artist. He was always sketching, writing, or creating art. He loved music and playing his guitars. He was the life of the party and was never one to turn down a beer. He had an eccentric sense of humor and his laugh and smile were out of this world. He loved making family and friends laugh. Alex graduated from Billings Senior High School in 2005, and he worked at Grains of Montana for several years. He wanted to get out of Billings and broaden his horizons, so in 2013 he joined the U.S. Navy. He was so excited for the new opportunities and adventures this would provide him. He was stationed in Port Hueneme, California, and was a part of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Five. He had the great opportunity to travel to Japan and he absolutely loved his deployment there. He was looking forward to going back to Japan this fall. During his time in the Navy Alex formed some very close friendships. More than anything Alex loved his family and friends. We are devastated by his loss, but we now know he is on the greatest adventure. He will be missed greatly, but never forgotten. Alex is survived by the many family and friends that knew and loved him. His parents, Mark Olsen and Sheri Sala. His siblings, Erik Olsen, Hannah Glassing and Lydia Uskoski. His nephews, Julian and Eddie Olsen. his grandparents, Marcia Olsen, Larry Sala, and Norma Jean and James VanPatten. His Aunts and Uncles, David and Amy Sala, Kris and Rachel Olsen, Cindy and Frank Diaz, Teri Finley, and Dave Ostermiller. His cousins, Charlene, Reuben, Elizabeth, Kathryn, Audrey and Andersen Sala; Kristen, Kyle, Ryan, Katie and Tara Olsen; Michael, Daniel, Enrique and Emilio Diaz; Megan and Emily Ostermiller, and Caitlin Fick. His friends Arthur Contreraz, Sean Spitzer, Liz Froman, Desiree Troudt, Janelle Bencic, Olivia Powell, and many more.
