Judith Olsen

Judith Emily Olsen, nee Sanderson, age 67, of Edina, Minnesota, surrounded by the love of family and friends, passed away April 8, 2011, in Edina at the N. C. Little Memorial Hospice after a long battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Judy is survived by husband, Richard Olsen, formerly of Billings; mother, Bethel Sanderson and sister, Dianne Sanderson, both of Worthington, Minnesota; brother, Stanton (Diane) Sanderson, Hainesville, Illinois; and nieces and nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Sanderson. Born in Worthington, Minnesota, Judy attended local schools and then spent her freshman year at St. Olaf College, balancing course work with the joy of playing in the St. Olaf Band. She then transferred to the University of Minnesota, receiving a degree in speech and language pathology through the College of Education. She was a member of Sigma Alpha Eta and the Fletcher Reading Room Committee. Later she entered the University of Minnesota Graduate School, completing her course work for the Master's Degree. As a dedicated speech and language pathologist, Judy worked in the Minneapolis public schools for 33 years. She loved to help children, and to share her faith and love of family, music and travel with her husband, Richard. Judy's heart was big. It embraced those in need, whether near or far. Her gentleness and caring were nurtured by her family and sustained by her faith. In her memory, do something nice with a friend, a relative, or a new acquaintance. Memorials: Donations may be made in Judy's memory. Suggested recipients: Lutheran World Relief, American Lutheran Church, Billings, and local food shelves or pantries. Service: A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 23, at 10 AM at Mountview Cemetery in Billings.
