Daniel Oltrogge

Daniel R. Oltrogge died June 9, 2012, the result of his motorcycle being rear ended by a speeding car. Dan was born November 8, 1971 in Havre, Montana. He lived in Havre, Great Falls, Butte and Billings. He graduated from Butte High in 1991. He graduated with honors from MSU-B in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Dan was a consummate outdoors man. He enjoyed backpacking in the Beartooths, fly fishing, ice fishing, and hunting. His love of the outdoors brought on the natural progression to his love of riding and working on his motorcycles. He took numerous trips to Sturgis and surrounding area with his friends. When he wasn't outdoors, he loved watching and rooting for his favorite teams, the Calgary Flames and Dallas Cowboys. One of his main passions in life was his art. He loved watercolors and painting sports, classic cars and motorcycle themes. He had numerous showing of his paintings in Big Fork, Butte and Billings. For his day job, he worked as a framing carpenter building many houses in the area. He is survived by his parents, Ray and Sharlene Oltrogge of Billings, brother Steve (Susie) Oltrogge, nieces Heather and Amber Oltrogge of Belgrade, grandparents Kenneth and Lucille Herem of Absarokee, his long time girlfriend, Amanda Brouillette, and her son Keith of Billings, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents Victor and Arlene Oltrogge, cousins Kevin Borland and Davy Oltrogge. “-------if I can't be an artist I'll be nothing.”- John Steuart Curry Service: A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, a donation of your choice may be made to you favorite charity. Dan's passions were the outdoors, motorcycle riding, and art.
