Jean Marie Ott passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the RiverStone Health Hospice Home in Billings, Montana. Jean was born August 29, 1941 in Lancaster, Ohio, to Leonard and Anna Ott of Somerset, Ohio. Jean graduated from Mt. Gilead, Ohio, high school in 1959, graduated from St. Mary's of the Springs College (now known as Ohio Dominican University) in Columbus, Ohio in 1964. After college, Jean served for two years in the Peace Corps in British Honduras (Now Belize) in Central America, teaching Home Economics. Jean then taught Home Economics first in Cincinnati, Ohio, before moving west to Choteau, MT, in 1976, and lived in various areas of the state as well as in Colorado. Jean had a love for nature and loved the western states and the friends that she made in those areas. Jean also earned Masters Degrees at both the University of Cincinnati and Fordham University and finished her teaching career teaching home economics starting in August 2001 at the Huntley Project High School in Worden, MT, and retired in 2011. During that time she was SPCLA advisor and also substitute taught from 2011 till the present time. Jean was active in the League of Women Voters, active in Prayer Lodge in Busby, on the Board of Directors of the Museum of Irrigated Agriculture, part of the Huntley Project, organized a sewing club for quilters and other fiber artists, active in Angela's Piazza in Billings, worked diligently on the project to provide senior housing in Worden and was active in her parish at St. Cyril and Methodius. Jean is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law Carol and Martin Flautt of Granville, Ohio, Rita and Don Sherer of Wesley Chapel, Florida and by her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Tess Ott of The Villages, Florida. In addition she is survived by a number of nieces and nephews as well as numerous great nieces and nephews and was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Anna Ott of Wapakoneta, Ohio, a nephew Jay Ott and niece Tina Quenneville. Visitation for Jean is 1-6 pm Monday, Nov. 13 with 6 p.m. Vigil at Dahl Funeral Chapel, 10 Yellowstone Ave., Billings. Funeral Mass is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Billings. Committal will be at Pleasantview Cemetery, Ballantine, following the Funeral Mass. Memorials may be made to RiverStone Health Hospice Home, P.O. Box 1562, Billings, MT 59103. Peace and all good my friend! My deep sympathy to Jean's family and friends! Jean was a gift and blessing; a life poured out form many. I feel so privileged to have crossed paths with her and share life. The memories and her spirit will remain in my heart!

I met Jean at the Worden Srs. when I visited my family. I was drawn to her. Her soft spoken giving ways made a big impression on me. I will miss visiting with her when I am in MT. She touched my life by helping my own sister when she was terminally ill. I know she helped many and did it quietly without calling attention to herself. Hugs and prayers go out to her family.

Jean was a strong supporter of the Billings League of Women Voters. Her quiet drive to get things done was a tribute to her "need it done" attitude. She also worked to better the lives of others less fortunate. An amazing woman and her loss is felt deeply. Carole Jones

Prayer Lodge / Wild Rose Center and all of the women who knew Jean through us are mourning her loss. She made us laugh, fed us so well and helped in so many ways we couldn't even name them all. Jean you have a special place in our hearts and in all of our stories. Journey well. On a personal note it has been almost 20 years and I will never forget meeting you, hearing you write about the three sisters and then showing up on my doorstep with a box full of supper when we welcomed our first child. Jed always felt you were cooking just for him. You were well loved.
