Harold Owens

Harold F. Owens passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 4, 2015 in Billings, MT. His loving wife and family were by his side. Born to Jacob and Ellon Owens on June 4, 1932 in Fulton, MS, Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother and uncle. Harold left home at 14 to join the Army Air Corps. He met and married his loving wife at 18 and they shared over 64 years together raising and loving their five children. Harold was proud to have served his country through two tours in occupied Japan, and the Berlin airlift. He was a proud and active member of the Absarokee VFW, American Legion, and Berlin Airlift Association. After retiring from the Air Force, Harold continued his career as General Manager of the Sheridan Center Inn, General Manager of the Billings Elks Club and owner of Harold's Cafe in Absarokee. Later he created Harold's Hot Mustard, which was his work and joy until his passing. Harold was a lifelong Atlanta Braves and Falcons fan. He loved fishing, hunting, bowling, gardening, music, photography and stock car racing. He was an amazing cook, storyteller, terrific fast pitch softball pitcher and entrepreneur. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren sharing his passion for rock hunting and rare coins. Harold is survived by his wife Beverly, children Fred Owens, Brett (Pam) Owens, Kathryn (Michael) McCrimmon, Jim Owens, and Terry (Ryan) Halpin; sister Edna Wright; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved and served his Lord, his family and his country. He found joy in family, friends and good food. He loved Montana and although born in the south he chose to retire in Absarokee, Montana. He was a God fearing, Christ loving example to his sons and daughters and exemplified to all what a father should be. He will be greatly missed and this world will be less bright without him. Memorial Services for Harold will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Absarokee Evangelical Church. Interment of ashes will be in the Nye Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel in Billings.
