Obituary
Beloved wife and mother, Judith Lenora Bergene, 68, of Billings, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at St. Vincent Healthcare. She was born July 23, 1942 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Francis and Mary (Wood) Alfers. She was a graduate of Billings Senior High School and Billings Business College. On August 15, 1965 Judy was united in marriage to Orland Bergene in Billings. They moved to Grand Forks, ND and also lived in Denver and Pueblo, CO, later moving back to Billings. As an exceptional typist, Judy worked as a secretary to the president of a life insurance company, as church secretary, medical transcriptionist, and an administrative assistant at an architectural firm. Judy dedicated her life to the exceptional care of her family. She loved all animals, especially her precious pets that meant the world to her. Judys interests included listening to music, playing cards and board games, swimming, her flower garden, and enjoyed traveling. Judy is survived by her husband Orland; daughter Jana Marie Bergene; son Steven Scott Bergene; sister Linda (Jim) Hardee; brothers Stephen (Alison) Alfers and David Alfers; sister-in-law Karolyn (Rex) Smith; very close family friend, Mel Bruder; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Memorials: Memorials may be sent to ZooMontana, 2100 S. Shiloh Rd, Billings, MT 59106. Service: A Memorial Service for Judy will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 at Dahl Funeral Chapel.

I worked with Judy at the life insurance company many years ago. I moved in with Lois when Judy got married. I lost touch with her through the years, but thought of her now and then. I had so enjoyed working with her - she was a good friend back then. My sincere sympathy to her family. May she rest in peace.

Dear Jana and family, I have so many fond memories of Judy growing up. She was a gentle sweet lady who always treated me so good. I too lost my mother October 6, 2009. It makes little sense to lose someone when they are so young! I know how hard this will be for you all. My toughts and sympathy are with you. Love, Amanda
