Obituary
Franklin Peterson, 81, of Billings died January 14, 2016 peacefully with his family by his side, of cancer. He was born February 12, 1934 in Parkerton, Wyoming, to Cy and Erma (Beliel) Peterson. The family moved to Bridger, Montana in 1945. Franklin graduated from Bridger High School in 1952, salutatorian of his class. On June 27, 1953 Franklin married his high school sweetheart, and the love of his life, Thelma Johnson. They were married 62 years and had three children, Penny, Ron and Cindy. Franklin worked 41 years for Cenex Pipeline as station operator. After retirement he and Thelma did some traveling to Las Vegas, Laughlin and Wendover, Nevada. Franklin was a collector of sports memorabilia, an avid sports fan, and loved the U of M Grizzlies. He coached baseball and men's fast pitch softball. He loved to read and do genealogy. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He liked watching his grandkids in their sporting events and was very proud of them. He will be missed by all. Franklin is survived by his wife Thelma; daughter Penny (John) Biggs; son Ron Peterson; grandchildren RJ Biggs, Jesse Biggs, Matt Biggs, Eileen Biggs and April Music; great-grandchildren Evan and Colin Trehwella, Kassie and Kody Biggs; brother Richard (Alice) Peterson, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Cindy; brother Gale Peterson. The family wants to thank Rocky Mountain Hospice staff for their love and care for Franklin and special thank you to nurse Joe McCally; you are one of the best. Franklin did it his way. Per Franklin's request cremation will take place and no services are planned at this time. Memorials may be made to Rocky Mountain Hospice or other cancer charity of one's choice.
