Arvilla Plain Bull

On May 28, 2019 the matriarch of our family, Arvilla Daisy Townsend Plain Bull, 86, of Pryor Gap went home to be with our Lord and Savior. She was born March 29, 1933 to Rose Plenty Good-Hugs and Frederick Arthur Townsend. She was raised by her beloved grandparents Hannah Morrison and Leopold Hugs. She was also adopted by a special Aunt, Ada Iron and favorite uncles, Elias Hugs and Oliver Hugs. Arvilla had many fond memories growing up in the Saint Xavier and Fort Smith areas along with her many siblings and extended families. She loved everyone. She married Cyril Plain Bull and moved to Pryor District, living there over 70 plus years. Her Indian name was, Biile Daalaachi, Ever Flowing River. She was a Greasy Mouth and a child of the Big Lodge Clan. She was instrumental in bringing the Pentacostal religion to the Pryor community. Arvilla was a strong and devoted Christian woman. Her legacy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She raised grandsons, Mickey Rides Horse and Gary George Duke Carlson as her own. But she often said she loved every grandchild. Arvilla was happiest when all her children, grandchildren and great-children were at her home visiting. Her hobbies were sewing, making dry meat, cooking and feeding anyone who came to her home. She enjoyed swimming in Big Horn River in her younger years and traveling the Pryor Mountains in her later years. Arvilla was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril Plain Bull, her parents, grandparents, Aunt Ada, Uncles Elias and Oliver Hugs, little sister Paulette Williamson, sisters, Aileen Not Afraid, Sylvia Iron, Pansy Hugs, Verna Hugs, Henrietta Pretty on Top. Brothers; Star Not Afraid Sr., Leo Plain Feather, Sylvester and Garland Iron. Daughters; Marlene Rides Horse, Mary Rose and Terry Jean Plain Bull, Nieces; Elizabeth White, Colleen Not Afraid. Nephews; Starr Not Afraid Jr., Oliver and Duane Costa. Grandsons, Mickey Rides Horse and Mikie Plain Bull. Survivors include her sons, Larry C., Gerry (Virjama), Jerry Allen, Frederick George Plain Bull. Willie Plain Feather, Marlin (Reva) and Vidal Not Afraid. Adopted daughters Patrice Smells, Rhoda Driftwood and Geraldine Big Day. Granddaughters, Rosie, Stephanie, Tanya, Victoria, Mercedes Plain Bull, Jewel Greenwalt, Tina Red Star, Cece Jones, Nadia Bad Bear, Shannon Hill. Grandsons, Darin Scott, Elias Thomas, Frederick Thomas, Jeremy Leo Star, Cyril Allen, Terry Gilbert, Willie, Jasper and Jerry “Buster”, Gary George Plain Bull, Chey White Clay and Bruce White Jr. Brothers, Edward(Mary), Bruce(Faith), Rapheal (Melva) Iron, Norman(Lynn)Morrison, Elias (Theo), Leo Thomas (Tammie) Hugs, John Pretty on Top, Newton Old Crow Sr. and Chester Bird Hat. Sisters, Daisy Arvilla Iron, Clara Belle Hugs, Beldean Small, Joy Old Crow, Agatha House. Sister in law; Gwen Plain Bull, Rosalee Turn Back. Brother in law, Tilton Old Bull. In our time of grief please understand if we have forgotten your name. Vigil Service will be 6:00pm Friday, May 31 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Service 11:00 am Saturday, June 1 at St. Charles Mission in Pryor. Interment will be in Plain Bull Family Cemetery.
