Luba Raboy

Raboy, Luba M., age 87 of Billings, MT, formerly of Greeley, CO, and Fredericksburg and Fairfax, VA. Luba was a kind, compassionate and generous woman, who died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Aspen Meadows following a brief illness. Luba was preceded in death by her husband Bertram, and brother Michael, sisters Josephine, Ann and Katherine. She is survived by her daughter Judith and “other daughter” Annie, both of Billings; two sisters, Pauline Roberts of Albuquerque, NM and Margaret Hassan (Skrak) of Arlington, VA. Luba trained at the University of Pennsylvania and Cornell University in nurse anesthesia, and worked as a CRNA for 40 years at the Arlington Hospital (VA), before officially retiring in 1996. Nursing and helping others was her passion, and after retirement she continued to serve others through hospital volunteer work at the Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg. She enjoyed working in her gardens and family vacations to the eastern shore. In 2006, she embarked on a new adventure to be closer to her daughters and moved across the country to Greeley where she continued her hospital volunteer work and was active at the Trinity Episcopal Church. While living at Garden Square Assisted Living, she enjoyed the company of the many friends there and enjoyed her bible study and shopping at thrift shops. She especially enjoyed collecting jewelry “finds” and knick-knacks, only to give them away to brighten someone else's day. Most of all, Luba adored her family. The love she had for her daughters shined brightly and will never fade. “Miss me, but let me go. When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me I want no tears in a gloom-filled room Why cry for a soul set free.” Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service is being planned for next summer. Donations, if desired, can be made in Luba's name to her favorite charity: St. Jude Children's Hospital. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the dedicated staff of Aspen Meadows for their exceptional care.
