Obituary

Kimberly Dawn Stoner Rees was born on February 10, 1966 in Glendive, MT to Jim and Maxine Stoner. She was raised in the Sidney area and graduated from Sidney High School in 1984. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. Kim lost her battle with brain cancer on September 2, 2014 at the age of 48. After graduation she attended Mary College in Bismarck, ND for two years, which was where she began her love of the medical field. She chose to leave college and married Al Rees on May 30, 1987. In 1987, Amanda Ray entered the world and Meagan Suzanne joined the family in May of 1989. They made their home in Sidney until July 1989, when they moved to Billings, to pursue careers in that community. Kim began employment upon their move at St. Vincent Healthcare in Central Processing and then moved to the Clinical Engineering Department, where she was honored with an Excellence Award. At the request of her superiors, Kim then transferred to the Emergency Preparedness Department where she led the Environment of Care team. In 2008, she transferred to the Pharmacy Department as a Pharmacy Technology Analyst. Kim was also a proud and active member of the hospital's Mission Council, Environmental Stewardship Committee, and Medication Safety Team. Kim left her footprint at St. Vincent Healthcare with the integration of the Alaris Smart IV pumps and the Epic medical record system, and Omni Cell Medication Administration Dispensing System. She enjoyed researching and being part of a team of professionals who sought cutting-edge medical opportunities to repair, maintain and replace medical equipment with the goal of improving patient care. Those that worked with Kim at St. Vincent know that her dedication, strong work-ethic, amazing people skills and true love for her job resulted in the best medical care in the region. Kim remained employed with St. Vincent Healthcare until she began her courageous battle with cancer. When not working, Kim loved being involved in her girls' lives and being a sports mom. When not doing that, she could be found watching professional football and was always sporting Dallas Cowboy gear. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband and also traveled to any potential destination, especially if she could locate a concert to attend. Kim also spent many weekends reading or spending time with her friends and family. Kim was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Pauline Stoner; maternal great grandparents, Lester and Alna Hill; maternal grandparents, Frank and Joyce Wuerffel; her mother and father-in-law, Don and Roxy Rees. Kim shared her life with her husband of 27 years, Al Rees; two daughters, Amanda Rees of Seattle, Washington; Meagan Rees of Billings, Montana; her parents, Jim and Maxine Stoner of Sidney, Montana; sisters, Pam (DeWitt) Mack and their children Dwight, Shaylynn and Casey of Mandan, North Dakota; Jenelle Stoner and her children Ayden, Ashlyn and Keaton of Spanaway, Washington; sister-in-laws Lori (Larry) Dore, Mary (Walt) Niemi; nephews Ryan (Jennifer) Dore, Jarod Niemi; and nieces Charlotte Dore, Monica (Jesse) Reuter, Ashley Niemi and many grand nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with graveside committal of ashes in the Sidney Cemetery in Sidney, MT on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.

Megan and Family, your mother was truly and inspiration. I don't know of anyone who smiled at work as much as she did, even in challenging situations. She always brightened my days. I know words can not reduce your grief at this time, but you all will be included in my prayers as your mother was during this past difficult year. God Bless

May the hope at Revelation 21:4 bring Kim’s family and friends comfort during this difficult time; “ And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” When this promise is fulfilled, we will never have to experience losing our loved ones in death again! Until then, may all your memories sustain you in the days to come.
