Obituary

Diane Reiter, 74, of Billings, MT passed away at home on July 17, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Diane was born January 4, 1945 in Billings to Philip and Alice Schneider. In 1963 she married the love of her life, Jim Reiter. Together they farmed and ranched for 45 years. Rodney, Tracy, Jamie and Jenny were blessed to have been raised by such loving parents. Diane had a love of travel. Her trips with Jim to the Oregon coast crabbing and their walks on the trails of Sedona were treasured. She fell in love with the beaches of Mexico on an anniversary trip and was sure to go back and enjoy annually with her daughters in remembrance of Jim. Our most wonderful wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother and friend was known and loved for so many things…… she was beautiful, free spirited, humorous, stubborn, sassy, nurturing, generous, fearless, creative, and classy. Diane was preceded in death by her loving husband, Henry “Jim” Reiter; and parents, Philip and Alice Schneider. Diane is survived by her children, Rodney (Tari) of Great Falls, Tracy of Billings, Jamie (Mike) Craddock of Gillette, WY and Jenny (Justin) of Billings; grandchildren, Lindsey (Dan) Clemmons, Adam (Brenna) Reiter, Philip Reiter, Madison Craddock and Hannah Craddock; great-grandchildren, JJ and Piper; brothers, Alan of Laurel, Dick (Diane) of Woodbridge, VA, Gary (Jean Anne) of Billings, Dale (Susan) of Billings and George of Billings. A service celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Dahl Funeral Chapel with interment to follow in Laurel Cemetery in Laurel, MT. The Behm family offers our sincere condolences for the loss of your mom. Eight years ago, when we moved into our home, just across the street from Diane, she was the very first person to reach out and befriend me. She was always upbeat, funny, sassy and my biggest fan. She would always tell me how much she liked this or that and would give me so many sincere compliments that I would become embarrassed. We had many treasured conversations over the years and I’m so glad that she was able to come to my son’s graduation party in our back yard this past May where I was able to sit and visit with her for awhile. She was generous in heart and spirit and I will miss her greatly. The ‘hood won’t be the same without her. 💔🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I am so sorry to hear Diane has passed. I loved your Mom and your Dad. I have been gone for several years and lost track of them. I have wonderful memories of the times we had together. Their days were filled with love and laughter. I feel so privileged to have shared some of those days with them. Our time with them was filled with laughter. I sold them furniture at Harts several years ago and we became instant friends. The love they had for each other radiated. I was sorry to hear when Jim died and knew the pain Diane must have endured. It's a heartbreaking loss for you and I share your pain. May God give you peace through this difficult time once again. Sincerely. Debi (Watson) Dyer

So sorry to learn of Diane.s passing. When we moved to Falcon Ridge a couple of years ago she was one of the first people we met. W e went for a walk and as we were walking someone called out "Hi there" and it was Diane.. She came over to us and introduced herself and what a wonderful friend and neighbor she has been ever since -- so many nice visits, etc. I feel such a loss and will miss her very much. So happy that I met her and have such nice memories. Loved the adjectives that described her. Condolences to her family. Jackie Dassinger (and Steve Radue)

Our hearts are broken at the loss of Diane. For almost 12 years we were friends and neighbors. She always, always had a smile and a warm heartfelt welcome. Inviting me in for visits, joining me on walks or just chit chatting on the sidewalk or yard. She dug out crayons and a color book when I stopped over with my granddaughter Emma. Within 2 seconds she was on Diane's lap and they talked and talked. She would always fill me in on her family with such joy and a smile on her face. Oh how she missed her beloved Jim, her eyes tearing up when she shared a memory or on those days when she was feeling especially sad. She definitely was a free spirit- full of spunk. I have some wonderful memories, the kind that make you laugh. Everytime! Some (ok most) are probably not appropriate to mention here! We sold our house last summer and when I went over to tell her.....she cried, I cried! We saw her off and on this past year and it was always with a big smile on her face, a hug and often a wisecrack. Telling us about her friends and their vacation escapades. She lived life to the fullest. We will miss her so very much. Please know how much of an impact she had on everyone around her and how much she was loved. Jeff and Debbi Barth
