Obituary
Melvin W Roe, 84, of Billings, passed away Tuesday morning, March 25, 2014. Mel was born on December 29, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA, the only child of William and Irene Roe. He moved to Montana to accept a position as professor at Eastern Montana College. He was also the owner of Billings Business College for a period of time. He had many fond memories of his students and fellow professors from this time and truly enjoyed his many years of teaching. While they were young he enjoyed taking his children to almost every home Mustangs game, sitting on the third base line, but always leaving early to beat the traffic home. He also enjoyed time spent with his family in Red Lodge. Throughout the 1980's you would also find Mel playing the organ for Atonement Lutheran Church on most Sundays and many weddings. Mel will be deeply missed by his wife of 33 years, Linda and his daughters, Jamie and Jennifer (Hendrix) along with her husband Ryan, as well as his grandchildren, Cody, Ireland and Riley. The Roe family would like to thank the staff at Billings Health and Rehabilitation and especially the activities staff as he enjoyed his afternoons of Bingo and Yahtzee and trips to the Mustangs games. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date. Mel's recent best memories were watching his grandson, Cody play baseball for the Billings Halos Baseball program. Memorials can be made to Halos Baseball, 328 S Shiloh Rd, Billings, MT 59106 or to any youth sports program of your choosing. Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel and memories may be shared with the family at www.dahlfuneralchapel.com

Dr. Roe gave me a love for History which I hopefully passed on to my students. He's one of the reasons I enjoyed EMC. I always truly respected him. God bless.
