Brandon L. Root, 31, of Fargo passed away on March 29th, 2016 in Billings, MT surrounded by family. He was born on October 26, 1984 in Billings, MT, son of Michael and Donna (Zankowski) Root. He graduated from Fargo South High School in 2003. With the help of his teammates, Brandon dominated the soccer field for 4 years as a Bruin. While continuing his soccer career at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, he graduated with a degree in Communication Studies. Brandon was an employee of the Boys & Girls Club and the Fargo Youth Commission. During his free time, he enjoyed golfing, camping, snowboarding, and bonfires at the lakes with his friends. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his nieces and cousins. Brandon will always be remembered for his crazy antics and clever sense of humor. Brandon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Oni (Cain) Root, his father, Michael Root, and his uncle, Mark Holzer. He is survived by his loving family and many, many friends. Memorial Service in Billings will be held Tuesday, April 5th, 2016 at 10:00 am, Billings Heights Baptist Church, 810 Garnet Ave, Billings, MT 59105. There will also be a memorial service in Fargo, ND at St. John Lutheran Church, 1710 5th St. S, on Saturday April 9, 11:00am.

I remember trying to replace him on the soccer field for fargo south. He made things that were near impossible look easy and finished with a flawless touch every time. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

Brandon was a wonderful man. The last words he said to Logan was, "I am so proud of you!" He will always remember those words. We will always remember his sweet spirit and his athletic ability lives on in Logan. We are so sorry that Brandon got only 31 years here but we look forward to seeing him again in heaven.

I had the opportunity to know Brandon during his time spent with the Boys and Girls Club of Fargo, ND. His kindness and positive attitude shined every day. Although I did not get a chance to know him on a personal level, he left an everlasting impression on me. I'm truly thankful for meeting such an outstanding person. RIP Brandon.

Simply put, Brandon was a special person. His smile and laugh was infectious, and his positivity and light-hearted nature impacted everyone who crossed his path. I admire that so much about him. Even though he is gone too soon, we are lucky for the time we had because it was always a good time when Brandon was around. I met Brandon through the Fargo Youth Commission and Boys & Girls Club. Brandon was an extremely wonderful person. No matter how busy he was, he would still stop and talk with you. He was always making jokes and pulling pranks. Whenever I needed a break or someone to vent to, he was always there and he would use his crazy sense of humor to brighten the moment. Do many memories. Brandon, you'll truly be missed.
