Donald Russell

Donald G. Russell, 75, died June 13, 2014 at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, MT. He was born March 15, 1939 in Lincoln, NE, the son of Robert and Ruby “Coker” Russell. He has been a Billings resident for 28 years. Don received his education in Lincoln. He served in the US Navy as a jet mechanic for two years. He was employed with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and co-owner of Howard and Russell Contractors. He also managed Lawnco Lawn Service, all in Lincoln. Don moved from Nebraska to Billings in 1986 and started Meadow Green Lawn Service. He later began selling Walker Mowers and started Meadow Green Sales and Service. Don was an honest, hard working, successful, self-taught businessman, always putting his business and customers first. Don married Elaine Wentland May 3, 1980 in Lincoln on what would have been his parent's 50th anniversary. Don is survived by his wife, Elaine; son Craig Russell of Billings; daughter Tina Russell of Lincoln; three grandchildren Jordon, Dylan and Keenen Russell, all of Lincoln; nephew Marshall (Linda) Russell; nieces Karen (Keith) Eurich of Lincoln; Susan (Willie) Lind of Lakewood, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Vernon Russell. Don was a warm, kind, caring, generous and patriotic man. His quick wit and great sense of humor made strangers and customers into friends quickly. Don loved his family, many friends, all animals, his business, and enjoyed his customers. He lived to work. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him well. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be given to American Lung Association.
