Sharon Adler

Sharon M. (Swanson) Adler joined various family members and friends in heaven on Easter Sunday, ten days before her 82nd birthday. She always said that if she could pick the day to die, it would be Easter Sunday – she did it “her way”. Surrounded by some of her closest family members she peacefully joined her Lord. Sharon was born on April 11, 1936 in Sidney, Montana to Lee and Millie Swanson. She later moved to Billing where she worked as an elevator operator at the Northern Hotel. She was working as a meat wrapper at Van Dyke's when she met Lou Adler, who managed the store. They were married July 9, 1955. While Lou traveled as a sales rep for Campbell's Soup Company, Sharon ran a daycare in their home. Besides raising their own five children, she also helped raise many other children, many whom have stayed in contact with her over the years. Sharon didn't have an enemy in the world. She loved everybody and everybody loved her. Her family and friends always came first. Many things brought Sharon joy but none more than her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon was an involved with the Moss Mansion, where she loved to give tours. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a beloved member/leader of the Altar Guild for 25 years. Sharon also loved to travel. Some of her memorable experiences were Super Bowl III in 1969, where they watched Joe Namath become famous, the Summer Olympics in 1984, a tour of Africa where she rode in hot air balloon and fell in love with giraffes, a cross country trip to Memphis, Tennessee where she visited Graceland (she was a lifelong Elvis fan). For her 80th birthday, Jeanne took her on a Rhine River Cruise and to Holland. In Holland she was able to visit her brother Maurice's grave. It was a lifelong goal to visit her brother who left at 19 and was killed in WWII. She is survived by her husband Lou of almost 63 years, her sister Joyce Propp of Billings, her children Helen Hein, Jeanne (Paul) Sorenson, Bob (Kathy) Adler, Scott (Ann) Adler, and Pam (Gene) Nielsen, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and many special friends including Evelyn Lynch, whom she was friends with since they were small children. She was preceded in death by her brothers Irvin Atchison, Walt Atchison, Bud Atchison, Maurice Swanson and sisters Evelyn Parker, Helen Swanson and Olive Swanson. She will be missed by all of us who are left behind. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 7th at 1:30 pm at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 2336 St. Johns Ave., Billings, MT with burial to follow at St. Pius Calvary Cemetery, 717 18th St. W., Billings, MT.
