Obituary
Kathleen (Kay) Sewell was born October 7th 1924 in Deer Lodge MT. The daughter of Irish immigrants Richard and Nellie (Sullivan) Godsil, Kay died in her sleep March 8th. Our Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend was a blessing to those she touched during her long and wonderful life. She graduated from Powell County High School and then attended Carroll College when more nurses were called for during WW2. After graduation she used her nursing degree as a stewardess (required at the time) and was one of the first stewardesses for Northwest Airlines. This took her around the world creating memories, knowledge, and life-long friends. Traveling was her passion. Kay was a dedicated caregiver, working as an RN in clinics, nursing homes, and home healthcare. Her true calling was caring for the elderly. Kay married Ernest “Jack” Sewell in Denver in 1955. They enjoyed a happy home and four children. Kay was widowed in 1976. She continued to live independently and drive badly until her passing. She was a true “Irish Mother”, always having a pot of coffee and a meal for whoever might stop by. She was always interested in people and places, despite many adversities; she had a true zest for life. After retiring, she made a trip to Ireland to see the birthplace of her parents. While there she met many of the relatives she had never before seen. In later years, and even in her last days, Kay was always there to visit and help those in need. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary and husband. She is survived by her children, Mark Sewell, Joan Hale, Aileen Stonebraker, and Paul (Yvonne) Sewell. Kay has 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with one on the way. Kay's faith was immensely important to her and never wavered. We are comforted to know you are safe in God's arms. You have left this world a much better place just by being you. You will be deeply missed. Service: A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial to follow in Mountview Cemetery.

Kay was a big part of my life. She welcomed me into her family which was very helpful especially after my family moved out of state. Kay was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. She was an amazing person. She was always kind and considerate. I will cherish all the memories we shared together, especially family time in her home sitting around the kitchen table enjoying some of her excellent cooking. I am so glad I had the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with her & her family this year. What a wonderful memory. She will be greatly missed by all. Her passing will not only leave a void in our lives, but in the hearts of everyone who knew her. Kay’s memory will always remain deep within my heart. Blessings - Sheri
