Diane Silbernagel

Diane Kay Silbernagel, 59, of Billings, MT, was unexpectedly called home to heaven on October 13, 2018. The oldest of seven children, Diane Kay Heil was born April 20, 1959, in Los Angeles, CA to Richard Francis Heil and Dorothy Jean Heil. After moving around as a child, she graduated from Billings West High School in Billings, MT. On August 8th, 1987, she and her beloved son, Kody, added another member to their family through Diane's marriage to Michael Silbernagel. Diane was also a dedicated employee to both K-Mart and 3G's, giving decades of diligent work and commitment. She was a colorful soul, inside and out, showing her color through a love of vibrant floral tattoos and her spicy sense of humor. Diane was as beautiful and gentle as the late summer wildflowers in Hell's Roaring, that she loved so much. She also wouldn't take any bull from anyone, whether they be an equally stubborn father-in-law or an armed robber at the convenience store. Some of the things which brought her delight were bingo, family gatherings, animals, King's Hat burgers, fast sports cars, mountains, reading, MASH and cheering on her prized Kansas City Chiefs and Colorado Rockies. In her younger years, she got a kick out of camping and flying down ice fields on sheets of Visqueen at Hell's Roaring with family and friends. However, Diane's most memorable traits weren't centered on things she enjoyed; her best traits were her kindness, down-to-earth nature, gritty tenacity, generosity, love, humor and caring heart. Authentically compassionate, she gave freely when she had little herself to give. She once used the last of her own money to put together a care package for a young woman going through a rough patch in life. She embodied a motto of Mother Teresa's in so many ways: “do small things with great love.” Diane is survived by her six siblings; spouse, Michael; son, Kody (Crissa); and grandchildren, Ryan, Makenzie and Erick. She will also be missed by many faithful friends and extended family members. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Dahl Funeral Chapel.
